Patrick Favre Trio - Humanidade - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Extremadura is the second album that Raphaël Faÿs, whose background is in gypsy jazz and classical music, has devoted to Andalusia. Raphaël's guitar technique is faultless and his feeling for melody a rare gift indeed, which serves him well here in this demonstration of his unique flamenco style - he plays the music using a pick. This new album shows all the virtuosity, passion and perfectionism that have made Raphaël Faÿs an unavoidable figure not only on the flamenco scene but also in all music.

Classically trained at the Conservatoire d'Avignon, pianist Patrick Favre developed a passion for jazz. He began his professional career in 1989, performing with bassist Louis Petrucciani and saxophonist Charles Tyler. In 1995, he worked with clarinetist Perry Robinson and appeared on his recording Movement. Favre settled on the trio lineup, offering a 2003 album entitled Dance nomadic and a 2010 on Fremeaux entitled Humanidade. His latest , Origins, features a lineup of bassist Gildas Bocle, drummer Karl Jannuska and guitarist Pierre Perchaud. With a selection of nine originals, Favre tells the story of his life in a kind of musical fresco. Each track explores moments in his life, looking at them like snapshots that are kept secretly inside a drawer.

French pianist/composer Patrick Favre is joined by bassist Eric Surmenian and drummer Frederic Jeanne on this 9 track CD.
