About this product
It's been a half century since Pavlov's Dog burst onto the burgeoning progressive rock sceneof the early 1970s. Hailing from the city of St. Louis, Missouri, their heady blend of rock, classical and folk music turned them into cult legends. The band has seen lots of lineupchanges and internal turmoil over the years, leading to extended breaks between albumreleases. But today, David Surkamp - lead singer, main songwriter and last remaining originalmember of Pavlov's Dog - continues to fly the banner high, accompanied by an accomplishedgroup of musicians that is a credit to the band's good name.Despite the departure of two key founding members, Mike Safron and Siegfried Carver, priorto the recording, many consider At The Sound Of The Bell to be the band's finest hour. Bornfrom sessions at New York's famous Record Plant Studios, a world-class lineup of musiciansthat included drummer Bill Bruford (Yes, King Crimson), bassist Elliot Randall (Steely Dan)and saxophonists Andy Mackay (Roxy Music) and Michael Brecker (Billy Cobham) addstasteful accents to the classic Pavlov's Dog sound.

Hang is Foxygen's third album for Jagjaguwar, and their first proper studio record, recorded in Los Angeles, CA at Electro Vox Studios. Hang features Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips, as well as Brian and Michael D'Addario of the Lemon Twigs as players on the album. Hang also features a 40+ piece symphony orchestra on every track. Trey Pollard from Spacebomb arranged and conducted the orchestral parts, with additional arranging from Matthew E. White. Foxygen is the Big Bang of two combusting minds. It's the splayed Galaxy of polar geniuses Sam France and Jonathan Rado. It's a handshake with a knife behind your back. A sleepless night in a five star hotel. You listen to Hang properly. You take in each moment. Each new melody that threads forward from the fingertips of one of this generation's finest piano men in Rado.
