A: I have tested this with my Sony A7RIV and a 200-600mm lens. (This is a MASSIVE lens). Without a doubt, it was able to handle it. I would recommend counterbalancing the tripod by adding a bag or some weight to the hook underneath, Definitely mount the rig via the lens rather than the camera in situations like this though. If you mount it from the camera it will be incredibly front-heavy.
A: It does come with the plate but I recommend to get an extra one if you have a zoom lens.

A: I contacted Peak design and was informed that Best Buy had been holdoing off on new orders die to the pandemic. It looks like that's over. My order has been placed. Supposed to arrive Thursday.
Q: How does a Swarovski STS spotting scope attach to this tripod?
A: You attach the scope to the tripod plate that comes with the tripod. The tripod plate has a 1/4x20 male screw that screws to the bottom of the telescope, assuming the telescope has a female 1/4x20 screw hole on the bottom of it.
