Pearl Django - Under Paris Skies - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The fifth by Pearl Django shows them in high spirits with string music that swings; three acoustic guitarists, a violinist & a bassist recapitulate the instrumentation of Django's legendary Quintet of the Hot Club of France, paying homage to a magnificent tradition, while bringing five wide-ranging backgrounds & a spectrum of stylistic capabilities to a new renaissance of string swing.

Pearl Django's 15th contains 11 wonderful and beautifully arranged, band originals. These are still in the style established by Pearl Django. That is to say, stretching the style known as InchHot ClubInch. Here you will find combination of swing tunes, waltz's, a ballad and a Latin tune with contributions from all band members. This version of Pearl Django is, possibly, the strongest ever, with two exceptional players, Tim Lerch on guitar and David Lange on accordion and our newest member Jim Char who plays rhythm as well as anyone in the business.

The eleventh by Pearl Django celebrates a broader scope in music styles and the fine composition skills of the newest members, Troy, Ryan and David. And, as a bonus, there is an appearance by renowned guitarist, Martin Taylor on 3 tracks. The essential spirit of Django is still represented here, but this CD establishes Pearl Django as more than a 'repertoire' band.
