Penny Serenade is enormously effective, balancing moments of heartbreaking pathos with uproarious laughter. The stellar cast includes Beulah Bondi, Ann Doran and Edgar Buchanan. Cary Grant earned his first Academy Award nomination in this beautiful and heartwarming masterpiece.
