Peter Jablonski - Andre Tchaikowsky: Two Piano Concertos & Piano Sonata - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Laura Netzel and Valborg Aulin are among the group of Swedish female composers who began to be talked about on the public music scene towards the end of the 19th century. Both Laura Netzel and Valborg Aulin were accomplished pianists, who showed extraordinary musical talent from an early age. But they followed substantially different paths to their début as composer. Laura Netzel was 35 when a couple of her pieces for ladies' chorus appeared in a programme for the New Harmonic Society at a concert in Stockholm in 1874. Valborg Aulin, on the other hand, was only 19 when several songs of hers were performed at one of the student concerts at the academy of music in 1879. With her experienced technique and artistic and accurate interpretation, Lucia Negro has long been considered one of Sweden's foremost pianists, and brilliantly interprets the works of these groundbreaking female composers.

?The music of Grazyna Bacewicz (1909-1969) has been enjoying a revival during the past two decades. Bacewicz was an outstanding figure in 20th-century music, a major Polish composer and a versatile musician. This album by the award-winning pianist Peter Jablonski, pianist Elisabeth Brauß, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and conductor Nicholas Collon includes some rarely recorded gems the composer's Piano Concerto together with the late Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra in it's first digital recording. Also included is the composer's homage to Bartók, Music for Strings, Trumpets and Percussion, as well as the composer's early exuberant Overture written during the German occupation of Poland.

Ronald Stevenson, still unknown to many outside the British Isles, is considered by several pianists as among one of the most important pianist-composers of the 20th Century. Following the tradition of many great pianists, Stevenson created piano transcriptions from the works of other composers and also wrote music in a variety of styles. This piano album by Peter Jablonski offers a compelling portrait of the Scottish piano master. The album includes four world premiere recordings.
