UK two CD set. The three albums that Glen Campbell made for the Atlantic American tag between 1982 and 1985 are on this set together with a rarity - the bonus track 'They Still Dance To Waltzes In England'. This track was specially recorded for British to coincide with his appearance at the 1984 International Festival of Country Music held in Wembley. Although he might have been originally known as a country artist, it would be an injustice to pigeon-hole him as his music defied categorization and attracted all manner of audiences. As he once remarked, InchThere are only two kinds of music - good and badInch.

Dmitri Borisovich Kabalevsky came behind Prokofiev and Shostakovich and along with Khachaturian in the InchBig FourInch of Soviet music. Following the releases of Kabalevsky's four symphonies, his complete works for piano and orchestra and the two cello concertos, CPO now presents the composer's music for solo piano. This includes the three piano sonatas and the two important rondos while a future will feature the complete preludes. There is also a short set of Three Rondos Op. 30 but as these pieces are nothing more than short and easy transcriptions from Kabalevsky's opera InchColas BreugnonInch they are not included here. Few careers are so closely linked to the recording medium as that of the pianist Michael Korstick. Among critics and experts in the piano world the Cologne-born Korstick has long enjoyed renown as one of the leading German pianists. Critics repeatedly emphasize the outstanding balance maintained by him between brilliant virtuosity and musical introspection, so richly informed by his striking personality and by his uncompromising faithfulness to the works he performs.

This album marks Peter Jablonski's debut for the Ondine tag. Alexander Scriabin (1872-1915) created an impressive catalogue of works for the piano and became one of the great innovators in 20th century music. In his early works, the listener can sense the composer's great admiration for the art of Frédéric Chopin. This is especially manifested in the over 20 Mazurkas that Scriabin wrote for the solo piano, the very same form of music that Chopin followed throughout his active years as a composer. Jablonski's album includes all Scriabin's Mazurkas with an opus number as well as two early Mazurkas.
