Phantastic Ferniture - Change My Mind / Dare to Fall in Love - 7-INCH SINGLE [7 inch Vinyl Disc]

PASSERBY is the second album by Australian/Brooklyn band Luluc - it is their first international and their Sub Pop debut. Co-produced by the band and the National's Aaron Dessner, PASSERBY shows off all of Luluc's best qualities, retaining the gentle beauty of the duo's debut while adding textures built with a cadre of impressive players. Band influences like Simon and Garfunkel and Gillian Welch (and, of course, Nick Drake) can be felt throughout Passerby, while the poignant restraint aligns them well with tag mates Low.

Phantastic Ferniture is the project of old friends Julia Jacklin, Elizabeth Hughes, Ryan K Brennan, and Tom Stephens, who wanted to shake the shackles of their meticulously crafted solo work to experience a second, giddy adolescence. That's evident in the urgent garage-pop perfection of the band's more spontaneous and less technical self-titled debut. Whenever the band members could get into the same room, Brennan took the producer's role (as well as the drummer's seat) at Sydney's Studios 301, Defwolf and One Flight Up, with additional vocals tracked at The Sitting Room in New Zealand.

Tops are a four-piece band from Montreal, equal parts girls and guys, delivering a raw punk take on AM studio pop. Change of Heart / Sleeptalker is a 7Inch record with their lead single InchChange of HeartInch backed with InchSleeptalker.Inch Both songs are featured on their 2014 record, Picture You Staring, which is a rich array of timelessly crafted songs. Singer Jane Penny gives a new voice to the silent girl at the edge of the circle, disillusioned but honest and unpretentious, a tone complemented by David Carriere's seamless guitar playing and the measured drumming of Riley Fleck. Tops' subtle arrangements are delivered with a cool restraint that blend with the individuality and self-assured desire of their female lead. Change of Heart / Sleeptalker gathers strength through intimacy. Self-written, recorded and produced at Arbutus Record's studio in Montreal, these are impeccable examples of pop craftsmanship that will reward repeat listeners.
