At the Moonbase, the fourth full-length album from Slaughter Beach, Dog, is a return to form for Philadelphia bandleader Jake Ewald. Written and recorded alone at home and at The Metal Shop, Ewald's East Kensington recording studio, the album tracks an exercise in solitary production not unlike Slaughter Beach, Dog's 2016 debut Welcome or 2017's Motorcycle. JPG. On the heels of 2019's Safe and Also No Fear, Ewald's latest offering brings expanded arrangements and sharpened storytelling as he taps into salad days over slacker rock (InchDo You UnderstandInch), the dark grooves of seedy city life (InchSong for OscarsInch), and even a barroom-piano-driven Inchescapade through the great American bedroomInch (InchA Modern LayInch). At the Moonbase arrives March 26th on Lame-O Records. Album Tracks 1. Are You There 2. Do You Understand (What Has Happened to You) 3. My Girl 4. Jonathan 5. Thinking of You 6. A Modern Lay 7. At the Moonbase 8. Fell in Love 9. Song for Oscar's 10. Van Morrison 11. Notes from a Brief Engagement (At the Boot & Saddle)
Translating Philippe B's nightbird tendencies, the 14 songs of the album describe the course of a protagonist from the shadows to the light. Album Tracks 1. La Complainte Du Scaphandrier 2. Ornithologie I 3. Biscuit Chinois 4. Calorifère 5. Le Sommeil Des Oiseaux 6. Cheveux Courts, Cheveux Longs 7. Alice 8. Nous Irons Jusqu'au Soleil 9. L'année Du Serpent 10. Ornithologie II 11. Une Nuit de la St-Jean Sur Le Mont Chauve 12. La Maison Sauvage 13. Tapisserie 14. Lucioles
It was through the process of becoming a father that Philippe B found the inspiration to write this new album comprised of 10 songs centered around the changing dynamics and cycles of life. With his vulnerable poetry, which is emblematic of his penchant for autofiction, the singer-songwriter offers a touching album, in which the pronouns InchyouInch and InchweInch acquire entirely new meanings. Album Tracks 1. Je T'attends 2. Pauline À la Ferme 3. Marianne S'ennuie 4. Nos Maisons 5. Les Filles 6. Les Orages Là-Bas 7. Souterrain 8. Nouvelle Administration 9. Last Call 10. L'ère Du Verseau
