Philippe B - Variations Fantomes - VINYL LP

Variations fantômes is inspired by classical music themes from Ravel, Strauss, Schubert and Vivaldi, to name a few. Following the exploration, introspection and reinterpretation of the works of these artists, Philippe B is guided by beauty, melancholy, faith, love and death in writing the lyrics of the very personal pieces that make the album. With his unique way of stringing together words to create vivid imagery, the singer-songwriter tells stories filled with passion, remorse and torment. To accompany his poetic lyrics, he proposes modern yet intense folk music with intriguing ambient sounds, thus setting himself apart from his peers. The result is a harmonious amalgam of guitars, keyboards and violins, sometimes rhythmic, other times softer, all integral to Philippe B's distinct musical universe. Album Tracks 1. Hypgnagogie 2. It was through the process of becoming a father that Philippe B found the inspiration to write this new album comprised of 10 songs centered around the changing dynamics and cycles of life. With his vulnerable poetry, which is emblematic of his penchant for autofiction, the singer-songwriter offers a touching album, in which the pronouns InchyouInch and InchweInch acquire entirely new meanings. Somewhere between the sophisticated songwriting of Leonard Cohen and Jacques Brel, the rugged folk of Bob Dylan and Neil Young, the acoustic pop of Simon & Garfunkel, and the haunting melancholy of Nick Drake and Elliott Smith, there is Philippe B, who reminds us of the depth that can be conveyed with nothing more than a guitar and a few words.
