Vinyl LP pressing. Includes digital download. Waking Hours, by Photay (aka Evan Shornstein), is a meditation on time and our obsessive need to actively fill each moment. The NYC native's search for calm is at the album's very core; while he admits it was therapeutic to create, it's not to be mistaken for a healing excursion. Largely electronic, frequents on the verge pop; extensively features Evan's own vocals. Sonically intimate and inviting, it suggests Photay is perhaps at his best when blurring genre lines. Album Tracks 1. Existential Celebration 2. Warmth in the Coldest Acre 3. Is It Right? 4. Fanfare for 7.83 HZ 5. Change in Real Time 6. The People 7. Rhythm Research 8. Pressure 9. Est 10. An Offering is a new work by Photay, under the influence of a special creative partnership with International Anthem recording artist Carlos Niño. IARC followers should know Niño, or at least one of his 3 albums we've released in the last 2 years (Chicago Waves, More Energy Fields, Current, and/or EXTRA PRESENCE). A simple introduction to Photay (née Evan Shornstein) would be to say he's made some of the best 'ambient' music of the last five years. Niño's influence is vast (who comes here with a network of regular collaborators including Iasos and Nate Mercereau), as is the presence of harpist Mikaela Davis, and the result on this collaborative album is to push Photay towards the sounds of the earth. And the water. And the spaces that exist, somewhere, probably. Mysteries unfold around each corner on every listen.1 P R E L U D E2 C U R R E N T3 C H A N G E4 E X I S T5 P U P I L6 M O S A I C7 H O N O R8 O R B I T9 E X I S T E N C E (feat. Fenne was born in London and moved to Dorset as a toddler, where shegrew up in the picturesque English countryside. She was a Inchfree range kid,Inchas she calls it, after her parents took her out of school for a period at the ageof seven. Over the following year, they taught her while the family travelledEurope in a live-in bus. Even after she returned to traditional school at 9,her home education never ended, extending to music. Her mother giftedFenne with her old record collection, through which she discovered her lovefor T-Rex and the Velvet Underground and Nico. Soon after she fell for thestrange genius of PJ Harvey and came to worship Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell, and the richly crafted worlds of Feist, which inspired Fenne to pick up a guitar.InchOn Hold,Inch a tender collection of expressive, open-hearted songs, was Fenne'sfirst foray into songwriting, written during her teenage years. Writing her ownsongs was initially a Inchtherapy exerciseInch for Fenne, who is normally reservedwhen it comes to talking about her feelings. The album, self-released in 2018,organically found a large audience online, which grew after she opened forLucy Dacus and Andy Shauf's North American tours last spring. Surroundingit's , The Line of Best Fit deemed Fenne Incha new and extraordinary voicecapable of wringing profound and resonant moments out of loss.InchInchTo have this record physically re-released is a big deal for me and the personI was when I made it. A lot's changed since then but these songs and whatthey've given me will remain dependable reminders of beginnings andendings that shaped me as a teenager. For an album whose title is half 'hold',it makes sense that now whoever wants to can finally do that again.Inch Album Tracks 1. Car Park 2. Three Oh Nine 3. What's Good 4. The Hand You Deal 5. More Than You Know 6. On Hold 7. Top to Toe 8. Bud 9. Broth
