Piazzolla,A. / Migdal,Liv - 8 Seasons - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Time and again, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach's (1714-1788) music undergoes fascinating metamorphoses in the interplay with instruments and interpretation. Inspired by these, the flute (Katalin Horvath, transverse flute) participates in a lively dialogue with the manifold timbres of harpsichord, clavichord, square piano (Eva Maria Pollerus), and cello (Thomas Platzgummer). This results in a multifaceted and highly musical recording portraying the development of almost the entire productive period of the composer.

The Salzburg Chamber Soloists were formed by Lavard Skou-Larsen in 1991 with the goal of performing chamber music with the freedom and expression of soloists. Vivaldi's Four Seasons are instantly recognizable even to those with a low affinity for classical music, and they are performed here by the Salzburg Chamber Soloists with intensity and passion. Piazzola's Las Cuatro Estaciones Portenas provide the perfect foil to Vivaldi's seminal work, in the form of four sensual tangos.
