About this product
A Momentary Lapse of Reason is the thirteenth studio album by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd, released in the UK and US in September 1987, on the labels EMI and Columbia. It followed guitarist David Gilmour's decision to include material recorded for his third solo album on a new Pink Floyd album with drummer Nick Mason and keyboardist Richard Wright. Although for legal reasons Wright could not be re-admitted to the band, Wright and Mason helped Gilmour craft what became the first Pink Floyd album since the December 1985 departure of bass guitarist, singer, and primary songwriter Roger Waters. - A Momentary Lapse of Reason was recorded primarily on Gilmour's converted houseboat, Astoria. It's production was marked by an ongoing legal dispute with Waters as to who owned the rights to Pink Floyd's name, an issue resolved several months after the album was released. Unlike many of Pink Floyd's studio albums, A Momentary Lapse of Reason has no central theme and is instead a collection of songs written by Gilmour, sometimes with outside songwriters. - A Momentary Lapse of Reason outsold Pink Floyd's previous album The Final Cut (1983), and was supported by a successful world tour. In the US, it has been certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA. Waters was gone, Gilmour and his guitar, voice and compositions were now at the helm-and a #3-hit album was the result. A Saucerful of Secrets - A Saucerful of Secrets is the second studio album by the English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 29 June 1968 by EMI Columbia in the United Kingdom and released on 27 July 1968 in the United States by Tower Records. The album was recorded before and after Syd Barrett's departure from the group. Owing to Barrett's behaviour becoming increasingly unpredictable, Barrett was forced to leave the band and David Gilmour was recruited in January 1968. - As a result, A Saucerful of Secrets became the only non-compilation Pink Floyd album on which all five band members appeared, the first for Gilmour, with him appearing on five songs (InchLet There Be More LightInch, InchSet the Controls for the Heart of the SunInch, InchCorporal CleggInch, InchA Saucerful of SecretsInch and InchSee-SawInch), and the last for Barrett, with him on three (InchRemember a DayInch, InchJugband BluesInch and InchSet the Controls for the Heart of the SunInch). InchSet the Controls for the Heart of the SunInch was the only song all five members appeared on together. The band's drummer Nick Mason has declared A Saucerful of Secrets to be his favorite Pink Floyd album. • Reintroduction of the Pink Floyd catalogue on vinyl for first time in over two decades • Original vinyl packaging has been lovingly replicated with special care • Pressed on 180 gram vinyl for optimum stereo sound quality • Pink Floyd's second album, originally released in 1968, is the first record to feature David Gilmour and the last to feature Syd Barrett • Classic tracks include InchJugband BluesInch and InchSet The Controls For The Heart Of The SunInch
