Pinkshift - Love Me Forever - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Baltimore's Pinkshift - made up of vocalist Ashrita Kumar (they/them), guitarist Paul Vallejo (he/him) and drummer Myron Houngbedji (he/him) - is back with their latest album 'Earthkeeper.' The record is a patchwork of anxiety, angst, grief and hope, juggling experiences both personal and existential across themes such as loss, one's individual purpose, and what it means to watch the notion of a stable life collapse before your eyes. After more than two years of relentless touring alongside bands like Mannequin Pussy, PUP, The Linda Lindas, Jigsaw Youth, Pussy Riot, and Origami Angel, are not the same people that they were when they made their 2022 debut Love Me Forever. They've grown, matured and been altered by experience. InchThe first album was influenced a lot by stuff we grew up listening to because we'd never really toured,Inch offers Myron. InchIt's really cool that now, after all this touring, there's bits and pieces of all these bands we wouldn't otherwise have listened to that have weaved their way into our songwriting.Inch Pinkshift stand for unity, collectivity, community and action, but above all, the Maryland trio are hoping their new songs can have a more personal, emotional resonance too. InchI think with this record, I'm trying to inspire you to, give a F**k,Inch Ashrita concludes.

Searing sax instrumentals from the great King Curtis - plus a lot more too - as this package not only brings together the King's records as a leader for Enjoy Records, but also digs up lots of performances as a sideman for that famous Harlem record tag too! The grooves here are raw and ready, nice and tight, and done with a nitty gritty style that might have been funk if the cuts were recorded a few years later - but which definitely had a bit influence on countless soul instrumental modes to come, both in the rhythms and in King's wicked lead work on saxophone! The package features some of the best instrumental singles that Curtis cut for Enjoy Records, from his Soul Twist album and other singles - and CD2 also features material that Curtis cut for Enjoy as a soloist on records for other artists! CD1 features 18 tracks that include InchSoul TwistInch, InchTwisting TimeInch, InchThe Monkey ShoutInch, InchHot PotatoInch, InchMidnight BlueInch, InchBeatnick HoedownInch, InchKing Neptune's GuitarInch, InchWobble TwistInch, InchWhat'd I Say (parts 1 & 2)Inch, and InchBig DipperInch.
