First, out of the box it has several updates depending on what apps you choose do download. For me between the TV itself and the four apps I selected, the updates took about 15 minutes on an 800Mb/s network. Second, and I'll preface this by stating I own several LG and Samsung upper tier LEDs including an LG C1 series OLED. This panel is rather bright out of the box to my eyes. I had to turn brightness down to 90%/. Color and contrast settings however are good at default but it will take some calibration to get it up to its capabilities like my other panels. Still I am highly impressed with the picture quality, specifically at this price point. It does a fantastic job of 4K Blu Ray playing as well as lower 1080p programming from Xfinity. As far as quality, it is light and it is definitely not a slim case design. It will protrude with a wall mount. However, on top of an A/V table the downward firing speakers do a surprisingly good job of sound without needing a sound bar. At least for a bedroom TV as this is used. The feet are metal and not plastic so it has a solid footing, and the TV is light enough for a single-pole VESA base stand mount option like a PC monitor. Finally, for those who do not know, this TV is not really made by Pioneer. It is made by TCL in consortium with Best Buy and Amazon and only branded by Pioneer. Warranty is handled through Best Buy. TCL is a proprietary Chinese TV maker, meaning they make all their own components in house for the TVs, and they also make their own LCD panels with a subsidary (China Star Technology). Years ago I had a bad experience with a TCL so I am hoping this one lasts well beyond the 1-year warranty. For $299 however, it's worth the dice toss, but ultimately, Father Time will tell.

Excellent picture and above average sound on this PIONEER 50in 4K TV. 4K material is stunning in clarity and color. Note that TV does NOT upscale SD or HD video in any way whatsoever. TV will play MP4, MOV videos and JPG photo files from a USB drive. Navigating the menus is a total pain in the butt. My wife wants me to return it for that reason alone - it's that bad. Changing aspect ratio is a difficult ordeal like trying to solve a video puzzle. It appears totally impossible to change aspect ratio from the videos/images on USB drive. When you plug in a headset or an external analog audio system, it shuts off the internal TV speakers. The remote has far too few buttons. No numbers whatsoever making direct numerical selection of specific over-the-air TV channels impossible. Set has lots of potential but it seems the product was rushed to market with insufficient user testing. FIRMWARE CHANGES are desperately needed. Also needed is a much more user-friendly remote. Three days in, it's a toss up whether we will keep it or not.

Great TV for the price, as we currently own a Sony KD65X90J in the living room, I am impressed with the 4k image on this 50” version we got for our bedroom. This TV also offers dolby vision which is a great plus. Pioneer has made premium TV a few years back at premium pricing, but coming back with a very affordable TV along with great quality is great. As a base tv this is and LED 60 HZ running Fire TV. If your used to having the firestick then you wont miss a beat. If your coming from a traditinal TV with numerical control then its just a small learning curve. Actually my wife and I use this TV more than the sony thats shows how much we love it!

Originally purchased a 55 inch insignia 4k tv and it was really bad the back lights seeped through unevenly hdmi port stopped working after 3 days. So returned that and bought this 50 inch 4k uhd pioneer and wow the picture quality is out of the world good and the sound is excellent. I have an expensive lg oled and this tv is not an oled but has very nice dark blacks like an oled. Highly impressed for 259.99 its an absolute steal at that price. Dont think buy this tv you wont be disappointed.

We returned the Samsung 50” in one day due to the picture, sound and mounting capabilities. I’ve never owned a Pioneer TV, only audio equipment. Let me tell ya! We love this Television. The Dolby sound is great without a sound bar. For a bedroom TV this one is perfect. The screen doesn’t look fake like a lot of the new tvs do. Pioneer did not sacrifice the picture to make this happen.

I needed new TV after TCL Roku decided to get lines down the screen after two years of owning it. This Pioneer Fire TV was a perfect purchase. We use Alexa speakers all over and this is just one more to use. The sound is awesome. The picture is great. For something so nice I think it would’ve cost more. Most likely will buy another in the future.

I love this tv. Pioneer has good sound systems so the sound system in this tv is really good. Picture quality is pretty good too. Not to mention the price, it’s worth it for the price. So cheap!

I was needing a larger TV than 35” and I came across this in an email ad. On sale for the perfect price but the color, clarity and sound are great! Was easy to get up and running, too! Great choice!

Great TV, nice clear picture and the sound is really impressive for a TV. I researched tv specs for months before purchasing this Pioneer 50" and I'm happy with this TV.

Great sound and picture. I would buy this tv again for sure. I just go with a different brand but for the price I couldn't say no. So, I ha e it a shot and it was well worth it. Thank you Pioneer and Best Buy for the great TV.

While pioneer isn’t at flagship level anymore, this TV really shows how good they’ve always been at video and audio processing. The color range is beautiful, I’ve watched a number of movies and played quite a bit of games on it by now and all of them look as the creators intended. Dolby vision is a major plus since, in my opinion, only oled’s can truly take advantage of it. While that may be the case, this is probably the best affordable alternative to Dolby vision out there. HomeKit integration makes things work with my smart home smoothly and I’ve never had an issue with it not being able to connect to Wi-Fi as most smart TVs do. Lastly, the only problem I have with the tv. Is the build quality. I get that the affordable price had to come with some sacrifices, but I don’t love the idea of a plastic frame. It feels like it’ll be destroyed if it’s taken out of the box wrong.
