Plague Vendor are back with their new album Bloodsweat, their most powerful and menacing work, and a record that cements the band as the purveyors of dark postpunk in the current scene. Bloodsweat is the much anticipated follow up to Whittier, CA band's debut album Free to Eat, which was cited by LA Weekly as Inchpunkish dark rock that makes you want to dance and destroy everything around you.Inch The songs on Bloodsweat were heavily road-tested before ever making it into the studio. During the recording process, they aimed to capture each track in as few takes as possible, avoiding many overdubs and embracing the same edgy production they bring to their live performances. Vinyl LP pressing. Plague Vendor are a fierce live band and the foursome have spent the last five years playing endless live shows. A fearless our-way-is-the-hard-way work ethic and famously physical live shows won the band a ferocious fan base. At the heart of every show is the frenetic performances by front man Brandon Blaine, guitarist Jay Rogers, bassist Michael Perez, drummer Luke Perine. That combined with the musicians' energy and spirit, the band evokes a foreboding, and very rock 'n' roll presence. The band spent eleven days locked in at Hollywood's legendary EastWest Studios (Brian Wilson, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop) with St Vincent producer John Congleton, with all visitors banned and all distraction eliminated. When they met Congleton they connected intensely and instantly, more like co-conspirators than colleagues. With Congleton's precision production, they found their own way between the powerful-but-too-polished sound of right now and the engaging-but-aging reinterpretations of classic punk/rock albums of the 60s and 70s. Vinyl LP Pressing. Plague Vendor are from Whittier, CA. They make music in a primitive line that goes back to Iggy and the Stooges, runs through the Cramps, Jesus Lizard, and the Pixies, and manifests most recently in bands like FIDLAR and Together Pangea. Guitar, bass and drums, and a leaping frontman willing to spill a little blood for your entertainment. This is no regular Warped Tour band, but with young fans who have never heard of the bands mentioned above, Plague Vendor's snarling guitars and high energy sets will make garage rock fans of a whole new generation.
