I have owned PS2, PS3 and now the PS4. The PS4 looks nice and it easy to setup. I have lots of friends who will buy an Xbox simply because they already are established on that ecosystem. The PS4 is really designed for gamers, they didn't waste time with all these home theater functions, that's what I have a smart remote for I can press a button to change my TV thank you very much. I have small kids and when they are asleep I don't want to be talking to my game console. I really don't share my gameplay, but I did try out the feature in Battlefield 4 and it was pretty painless to record 15 minutes of footage and upload to Facebook.

It is way too awesome but the only downfall is the it does not have PS3 playback. still an excellent product top add to all the electronics at home.

Sony's PS4 is truly amazing piece of equipment. Sleek, great menu design with subtle music, right out of the box it provides an experience any true gamer would appreciate. The console comes with an internal 500GB HDD; I purchased a Seagate 1TB Hybrid laptop HDD/SSD and found it really easy to upgrade the internal storage - it took me under 10 minutes. The new DualShock 4 controller is a vast improvement over the terribly flimsy PS3 DS3 controller sticks, and the speaker, touchplate and lightbar built into the controller add some great features to most games. I'm looking forward to a wider range of games becoming available later in 2014, especially Infamous and Destiny.

PROs: For the Price, you can't beat the PS4. Came out as the same price as the PS3 launch, which wins customers. Sound is Superb!! Once you piece everything together, then you've got a winner on your hands. CONs: There are only 15 plus games to choose from. Unless you have endless financial resources, then you'll need to buy certain items at a time; ie Extra Controller, then the Headset, then the Camera. There really aren't any cons but if you must look for something, constantly sold out almost everywhere you look.

I waited awhile for this system and I was thrilled when I got it. The design is sleek and chic. The remotes are extremely comfortable and the 3D camera with facial recognition is the best I;ve seen outside of a smartphone. My only complaint is that you can't play any PS3 games on the console. I know Sony is working on that but not all PS3 game titles will be available and it won't be free of charge.

This is the must have gaming system. Graphics are incredible and game selection is endless. The only con I can think of is that my kids and i can't stop playing.

Great innovative new console with superp graphic. However, psn is no longer free because you now have to pay 50 dollars per year. Other than that, everything is good. Highly recommended for people who want a new system. Also, it is cheaper than Xbox One by 100 dollars.

Being a avid gamer I pre-ordered the PS4 back in Feb of 2013 to make sure I would have one on launch day. Opening the box, the new design of the system does not disappoint. I love the parallelogram shape to the console and the overall size makes it easy to fit in almost any entertainment unit. Upon turning the system on I noticed how quiet it runs even after hours of use. The UI has also been redesigned making everything much easier to find especially when compared to the clunky UI the previous PS3 had. The graphical power can really be seen in games like Assassins Creed 4 and Killzone. The new controller fits even more comfortably in my hands and has a few new feature like better triggers, a touchpad, speaker, and an indicator light to let you know which player you are. You'll really get to test these features with the new Playroom which is a tech demo of sorts which shows off a lot of these new features. My only gripes with the system currently are its lack of external USB support which I assume is Sony's effort to curb pirating but I feel it a bit of of miss for them. Also, although I know there's a planned streaming service for PS1-PS3 games coming up, currently it's not backwards compatible so hold onto all your old PS3 titles. Overall I feel that the PS4 has had a great console launch but I feel there are just a couple small things lacking which should be able to be fixed with patches in the future.

I have owned nearly every console ever but this cycle I have only picked up a PS4 so far. I have absolutely loved it. The system is smaller, quiet as a whisper and has many great new features. I love the free games I have received with my PS Plus membership. Initially I never saw myself taking advantage of the automatic game recording features or the live stream broadcasting, but now I have to admit to using both. I can't explain why it is so fun to post a humiliating video of a helicopter crash on facebook for my friends to laugh at. The newly designed controller is familiar and tight but still has added features. I like the large touch pad and see potential for it. This being Sony it may also go the way of the Six-Axis and Move. Still it is nice when games use it to map gestures so you can have more "D-Pad' functionality. I like that I have a speaker in the controller as well as micro-USB charging port and headset jack (Included in box, yay!) The battery life on the controller could be better but I leave it plugged in to a wall outlet for extended play sessions without any trouble. The OS software is a huge improvement over the PS3 but there is a LONG ways to go. the store is still ugly as sin and light years behind the Xbox 360 store. They patch it regularly and I have no fear it will get better over time. Being able to bounce in and out of a game to another app and party chat is especially enjoyable since it is so buttery smooth and seamless. No camera included in my box. After paying for Move on PS3 and never using it I can't say I am very disappointed. Apparently there are voice commands baked into the OS. My Android phone has broken me of the fantasy of talking to my computers so I have never experienced them on the PS4 either. Best of luck to you if you want to invite Sky-Net to have a dialogue with you in your briefs. If you are an avid gamer and love online gaming this system will not disappoint. Drop $35 on PS Plus already and join the fun. It's all sunshine over here. Waiting for: Uncharted 4 Destiny Halo 5 (A guy can wish) Battlefield: Operation "Shut up and Take my Money!" Elder Scrolls: Online Alien: Isolation The Last of Us 2 (I don't care if it WAS a stand alone experience!) Mercenaries 3 (Unannounced) Firefly (still dreaming) an HBO Go app (I think we see where this is going...)

The new PS4 is nice and quiet and the controller is slightly larger than than the PS3. I think that makes the controller more comfortable. The option button is small and can be tricky to reach but I'm sure I'll get used to finding it easier. You can no longer stream music from your home network and you can't import CDs. Less stored music is probably a "good" thing since the game installs are huge and the hard drive is relatively small at 500GB. While it's a bummer to have to pay play online compared to the PS3 days, Playstation Plus does offer some great perks. There are multiple games available for free download - and yes, full games. Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, Borderlands 2. Some are PS3 only, so the value really goes up if you have both consoles. I've already gotten my $60 annual membership back in games. The menus aren't as streamlined as I thought that the PS3 menus were. There's more scrolling and hunting, especially as you add apps and games. It's also buried to be able to turn off the controller compared to holding the PS button like on the PS3. Speaking of the controller, the glowing blue or red player light is pretty large and you can't turn it off. I think that is a big reason that the batteries don't last as long as they should. It's pretty how cool how there's a built in speaker. On Killzone when you find audio disks, they play on the controller so it's like your character is listening to the disks in their hands. All in all, I'm very happy with the purchase and very glad I wasn't forced to buy the camera like the XBOX ONE.

I am very happy with my purchase. However, even though the PS4 is a great system there are a few minor nuances. Let's start from the day I purchased my system. I was so excited it felt like it was Christmas or my Birthday but it was even better it was my wedding anniversary and my wife was about to spoil me. I had waited and not purchased the console at launch due to the poor performance and a bad experience with the PS3. I have always been a fan of Sony's systems and games so it was only a matter of time. I was not going to buy it for myself until it had proved itself worthy. However, to my surprise my wife had other plans in store for me. Now when I went to pick out the system I was told I could buy a game as well. Unfortunately, the selection was slim and sad. It has been over a half a year and there are barely any games for it. So I picked up two games FFXIV and then later that week Second Son. Both look amazing and I already play FFXIV on PC but for some reason it runs smoother on the PS4. The remote play feature on the vita is awesome and why I decided to get the game on PS4. So, now that I had my game it was time to run home and set it up on my home theater as soon as humanly possible. I get home, hook it up to my 55" LG LED and surround system, connect the controller to USB and then hit the power button. On my screen displays the famous Playstation Logo, then the 1st time setup screens appear and after navigating the menus and entering my information I finally boot into the main page of the System. I say main page because that is what it looks like, a social network site. OK, now it's time to get my game on. But hold up, I decided I want to test the other features before I lose the next few hours of my life to the land of Eorzea. So I grab a 3D Blu Ray movie and put it in the system. Nope, does not work. OK so maybe the system does not support 3D, how about just regular Blu Ray? Yes, the regular Blu Rays play just fine. Next, I decided I want to see what kind of sound this system can put out so I grab my favorite CD and... nope... does not work either. Wow, this was upsetting. Why in this day in age, can I watch movies but can't listen to music? Whatever, not a deal breaker I bought this thing for games. So let's move on. I put in the FFXIV disc and perform the setup, everything goes fine. The game boots up and the games looks fantastic, no complaints. Later that week, I get a chance to play again. Life is hectic we have responsibilities and we can't always play everyday, even though we wish we could. Now, I have been playing FFXIV since the PC launch and it looks great on my PC and now it looks just as great on the PS4. However, like most gamers we need variety. So I decided to pick up Second Son. After making my purchase I go home, open the game, power on the PS4 and... nothing. The system beeps 3 times and shuts off. "OK?", I think to myself. Maybe this is just a fluke. Try to power it on again, nothing just 1 beep. Third time must be the charm, right? Nope, nothing. The system just tries to boot up but then turns right back off. Now at this point I am thinking I have a bad system but instead of returning it I decide I should check the internet and see if anyone else if having this issue. Well not to my surprise, there were others also having the same issue. The solution? Boot into safe mode. OK so what, my PS4 is now a PC? What should I expect next, the blue screen of death? So I follow the online instructions, boot my system into safe mode and select "Change Resolution". The PS4 reboots and what do you know, I finally see that beautiful Playstation Logo again. It's a bit pixelated since the resolution is 480P but I could care less. I can go into the settings and change it back to 1080P. The important thing is that I can get my game on now. The voice of the internet also suggested turning off HDCP, never leaving the system in standby mode and changing a few other settings. So here we are today. Almost 2 months have passed since I brought my little bundle of joy home. Things have been a roller coaster of emotions, it's always keeping me up at night and constantly needing my attention. The sync issues have improved since the last update but occasionally I still have to boot into safe mode and unfortunately here are still very few games. However, if E3 is any indication of what's to come. Then I am very excited to watch my library of games grow and I look forward to the days ahead where we will spend hours playing with each other. Pros: Great Graphics Good Price compared to XB1 Solid and sexy UI Great online infrastructure Cons: HDCP sync issues with some tv's Lack of games Lack of features (though expected to increase with patches) Overall: I would recommend this as a buy. If you enjoy games and the exclusives that Sony has to offer then this is the platform for you.

The next gen is here and it feels like it. The Ps4 comes into my household as a nice addition to my gaming cabinet. It looks great with a slim form factor and doesn't take up much valuable real estate. It runs quietly and performs smoothly. Playing a lot of the launch titles at a high resolution with smooth frame rate and beautiful graphics, just what you'd expect from a next gen system. It has the capability to suspend apps and resume very quickly, allows for background downloading of games and you can begin playing them shortly after starting the download, no longer do you have to wait for the entire download and install to play a game, which is just wonderfully amazing. The UI is great, it's simple and easy to navigate, it's just in time we're all going to need a solution so that the menus don't become a mess, there seems to be no organization to it, as it just tiles the games you've played recently across the main menu, I forsee a time when I'll have to dig around to find what I'm looking for and may even forget what games I have on the system. I'm sure this can be corrected in future updates. The other thing I found missing from launch that I was really excited about, is the ability to suspend games when I'm done playing and then instantly resume where I was the next time I'm playing, this is what they were talking about at E3 when they said you can go right into the games, I've read this will come, but I was disappointed when they didn't have this and the competition does at launch. The Ps4 is concentrating on the gamer and this is great! but a little more overall media love would've been great, I'm waiting on an hbo go app so I can ditch the 360 and I'm waiting for some 3d bluray support so I can ditch my ps3, I'd like to move the last gen outta the living room and so would my wife. But it's only the beginning and if the transformation that we saw with updates in the last gen systems is any indicator, we are all in for some great entertainment!

I do not have any complaints with my PS4. The system itself is sleek and small than the ps3. It does not make any noise (I live in a small NYC apartment). Great graphics. Wonderful interface. No complaints.

I want to start this review by saying I'm a homer for anything Microsoft. I thought the Xbox 360 was the superior console; furthermore, I own two 360's, a PS3, PS4, and Xbox One. If you're a gamer, which I am, then the PS4 is the superior console right now. All the new games run at 1080p vs. lower resolution's on the Xbox One. This in and of itself isn't a deal killer, unless you have a giant screen like I do (73"). The interface is easy to navigate, and while the camera has limited voice commands, it actually works better than the Kinect 2.0 (the problem with the Kinect 2.0 is that it has too many commands, and not all of them work). The controller is a delight to use for the first time since, well, ever. Sony really knocked it out of the park this time, and the light sensor on the rear, when used, is actually helpful in determining health. The motion sensing portion isn't being fully utilized yet, as well as the track pad, but both have great potential. Plus, the share button is just fun to use (especially in Madden 25). The built in speaker is also a nice addition, and really a nice experience. Killzone is the only game, so far to fully utilize all the features of the controller. The downside is the battery life, but I solved that by buying two controllers. You can also just get a usb extension cord, and play while charging, so not a big deal. The hardware inside is superior. I build gaming PCs on the side, so I'm pretty familiar with DDR5 RAM (I have two EVGA Titans in my gaming rig.) It's super fast and makes the user interface snappy, and produces high frame rates at 1080p. The processors and GPUs are similar in both systems but Sony somehow got more out of it. I will have to open mine to take a look at the architecture. The PS Vita is finally a useful accessory. I can stream any game into any room of my house, and have an experience close to the console. While I wouldn't buy a Vita just for this feature, okay, well I would but I'm a nut about tech, it's great if you already own one (I bought at it's launch, and have been disappointed until now). I pre-ordered the PS4 first because I had a feeling Microsoft was going to screw the pooch on this one. Now that I have both consoles I have to say that the Xbox One is a nice system with a lot of potential, but it's more complicated to use then the PS4, doesn't have quite as much horsepower, no longer has the superior controller, and Kinect 2.0 with TV integration is a mess right now. If you're a gamer, then right now the PS4 is the better system. This may change in the future as each system updates their operating systems, and new games come out, but for now the PS4 is my system of choice. Good job Sony you one me over from Microsoft!

honestly i was the first person in the best buy store in Springfield Missouri to get my console on the midnight release when i got it home the graphics made my jaw drop they were so life like it was to amazing. the only reason why i took back my console to best buy was the psn didn't have enough content to keep me happy so i returned my console and will buy another console later on when sony finally adds more games to the psn and adds more content the controllers battery didn't stay charged long that was a big problem for me and i left them on the charger over night and that didn't seem to help them went dead pretty quick so that is a con but other then that amazing console and amazing graphics it is worth the purchase.

Reviews I read helped me to select the PS4. PS4 availability plus the extended warranty agreement helped me to select Best Buy. Sony online manuals helped me to use the platform (my first time on these platforms). The holiday season prompted my purchase. Some Pros: The PS4 has a very clear interface and the controller is perfect (I play Madden NFL 15). It is my first experience with a controller, so I can’t give a comparison. Also, you can stand the PS4 on its side making a small footprint. In general, I’m satisfied all the way around at this point in time. Some Cons: I don’t have an Xbox, 1 or whatever, so I can’t give you a comparison. One of the Xbox problem requirements for me has apparently been changed. From CNET.com: “Xbox Live Gold is no longer required for basic streaming apps and synced game-saves.” I read the PlayStation Plus terms of use and there are just too many terms to my liking. I don’t like their “Wallet” system; it’s like an open checkbook. I would be willing to pay as I go, but that is not a usage term.

The PS4 is far and above the best system out there. The sleak design, minimalist approach alows for a conversational piece in the living room. Oh, but wait till you turn it on. The user friendly game menus and attention to what Siny users have been asking for is all there under the hood. Graphics, you will be sure to turn heads of those passing through the living room as you blow Helgast away in Killzone: Shadow Fall or turn a double play in MLB The Show 14. This is a great system for a beginner or a hardcore gamer as the new controller design is the best I have ever held. So pick one up now because you are missing out on the best system of our generation. Beyond!
