I don't have as interesting a story to tell about my second PlayStation 5 as I did my first but I don't want to wait outside a Best Buy for another 30 hours and make more new friends. So now that we have passed the “how easy it is to get one of these now” part of the story let's talk about the system. The 1st one I bought 2 years ago is the original size one. This one is slim, it is sleeker and smaller but not so much you can tell, maybe 35% smaller. It is easier to lay flat with little feet that you place in the middle underneath, instead of this awkward disc pedestal that came with the original. I also bought extended SSD drives for both of my PS5s and they were the exact same process, not much different from the original to this one. There was an extra boot up screen because the disk drive can now be sold separately for those who want to buy a PS5 without and then get a drive for disc later. However, only aesthetic differences can one see between the original and the slim PS5. On the original the front ports are 1 USB-B and 1 USB-C and 2 USB-B on the back. On this slim, there are 2 USB-C on the front (one labeled SSD for external memory, if you don't go with the internal extended memory) but still works to charge controllers, and 2 USB-B on the back. Performance is the same beauty is the same, everything about it is just awesome. I may have to keep this one and give the other one to the children. Be sure to get some extended memory, external or internal. For internal most stores sell them for or with PS5 in mind for saving and downloading. Install videos for the internal are all over YouTube.

As someone who casually plays video games and was an avid Xbox player for the last 15+ years I had been itching to upgrade to a newer console, unfortunately Microsoft really missed the opportunity to get players back into their ecosystem on Black Friday After owning this PS5 slim for a little over a month it has been nothing short of amazing, the graphics are stellar, the performance is right where I want it to be and the Price Sony had on these was great, being a 5 year old console now I still feel there’s much more room for them to build upon this system! My only gripe is the battery life on the controller and storage. 1TB (about 850gb total) seems like a lot but when you have to install the games onto the hard drive internally (rather than just being able to load the disc and play the game) each game is getting increasingly larger with every release, so I’d say upgrade the SSD to something around 2-4TB if you plan on playing multiple titles

Five years in to the console lifecycle and due to a promotion to trade in my ps4, i jumped in and bought a ps5 slim disc version. The graphics are a boost from the ps4 and the loading time for ps5 times is impressive. I also like that you can add an extra M2 SSD to your console along with extended drives to play ps4 games from. Adding the M2 SSD drive is super easy and there lots of online videos for guidance. I'd recommend using the new hdmi cable that comes with the game as the hdmi port is fickle when using an older hdmi cable that was plugged/unplugged frequently will cause issues with the screen going black randomly. My major complaint is the stock ssd is pitiful at 1TB which 200+GB is used for system storage software. My understanding is that M2 SSDs keep coming down in price but yet the console manages to going up in price. My second complaint is the price. If the ps5 pro wasn't so expensive, I would have considered purchasing it. Thank fully the trade in for my ps4 helped bring down the price. If it wasn't for the trade in offer, I might have waited on the ps6.
