About this product

When Ignaz Pleyel concluded his work on the last of his twelve InchPrussian Quartets,Inch he had already garnered a great deal of experience as a composer of string quartets. His unmistakable musical voice had brought him countless admirers - including, not least, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who enthusiastically wrote of the Quartets op. 1 in a letter to his father. The dedicatory preface suggests that Pleyel had composed all of it's pieces in Italy. He described them as Inchmusically profound,Inch thereby indicating that Haydn's Quartets op. 20 may have been their immediate model. The fugue movements in the Quartets Benton 328 and 330 are fascinating. Although Pleyel claimed that he had written them in the Italian style, Mozart was not fooled here in their refined elegance he recognized the unique signature of Pleyel's teacher Joseph Haydn. Nevertheless, the pupil had succeeded in writing a brilliant series of quartets in keeping with his own ideas and combining the clarity of the Italian style with the wealth of technical imagination characterizing the Viennese style. Pleyel Quartett Koln - String Quartets 4-6 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Gaetano Donizetti not only was very well acquainted with the Viennese models that then were dominant on the international market; at the latest since his study years in Bologna he had also been familiar with the most important exponents of Italian quartet culture. This is why his string quartets offer valuable insights into his education and early artistic development and are important documents attesting to the existence of a chamber music culture specific to Bergamo. In Quartets Nos. 4-6 conventional and innovative elements combine to form an astonishing synthesis. A great many different musical characters are heard in his quartets, which often come across as unconventional in form and tone. It thus may be said that Donizetti composed while feeling Inchthe pulse of the times and that the Pleyel Quartet plays while feeling the pulse of the music. No wish remains unfulfilled. Here Donizetti's music is performed just as naturally, spiritedly, and entertainingly as it is written. Inch This is how klassik-heute. Com praised our previous album featuring Quartets No. 1-3. Album Tracks 1. String Quartet No. 4 in D Major 2. String Quartet No. 5 in E minor 3. String Quartet No. 6 in G minor

Mozart / Stradivari Quartett - Mozart: Preussische Quartette - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The Stradivari Quartet shines in this collection that rightfully elevates Mozart's Prussian Quartets, the last set of string quartets composed before his premature death. While the provenance of these quartets has been much debated over the years in some cases achieving the status of lore, what is indisputable is they originally were to include six quartets, but only three were published K575 in D major, K589 in B flat major and K590 in F major, written in 1789 and 1790. While never reaching the profile of Mozart's six InchHaydnInch quartets, there is a refined and transcendent quality these quartets are imbued with that in many ways was unprecedented in Mozart's oeuvre. Album Tracks 1. Allegretto 2. Andante 3. Menuetto. Allegretto 4. Allegretto 5. Allegro 6. Larghetto 7. Menuetto. Moderato 8. Allegro Assai 9. Allegro Moderato 10. Andante 11. Menuetto. Allegretto 12. Allegro
