For boardgames players and Pokemon fans this is an excellent initial game for the Pokemon Trading Card Game. It has three complete decks and what I love the most was the hard play board to put your cards while playing. Usually when you buy instead ofemon decks, they come with a poster play board instead to this one.

Ages 6 and 9 years old, the kids had no interest in this game quickly after opening it. There was too much to read and they were absolutely not interested. They love Pokémon, they did not like this game.

I bought this to simplify teaching some friends how to play the game and to my surprise it worked really well. You get 3 starter decks and a rulebook with step-by-step rules thay guide to to play. Definitely for first time players.

Purchased a couple other Pokemon TCG Trainer kits for $50 each hoping my kids and I can learn and see what all the hubbub was about. Those kids didn't provide enough trainer cards and certain energy cards so it was tough to create balanced decks especially since I have zero experience prior. Also, it was annoying to get some special Vmax or Stage 2 cards that we can't even use because we did not get the basic cards to evolve from. Decided to buy this Battle Academy box and discovered this is what I should've bought in the first place. It provides a step-by-step guide of how to play along with a decent quality boardgame-like play surface for placing cards. If you're just learning to play and want already-created balanced decks, this is for you. However, if you're a collector looking to get rare cards, this is not for you as every card in the 3 decks are the same for every box. I believe this is the 2022 version so I'm going to buy the older one for $20 as well assuming the kids stay into it.

This was the perfect intro for me to learn how to play the game with easy-to-use pre made decks. Would recommend go anyone trying to learn.

My kid recently got into Pokemon cards and we got this as a starter pack. It does teach you the bascis, but I believe more detail should be included. I think you can use these cards without a board as well, but I'm not sure. So far, he liked it.

Great introduction to Pokemon TCG. The decks have a preset order and instructions to learn the first 6 or so turns in a game. You learn how to play energy, pokemon, use trainer cards and attack. The text on the cards can be a bit small so it can be challenging to point out certain things to a 6 year old, but they will learn as we play more. I haven't played the game in 23 years and it was easy for me to learn again.

This game is great. I played as a child and wanted to learn again to play with my kids. This teaches you how to play and includes 3 full decks!

Great price. It was on sale. Great way to learn the game. Good gift for someone who doesn’t really know Pokemon TCG very well.

I gave this to a young Pokemon fan, they seemed very happy with it, as they have collected the cards, but always wanted to learn how to play.

My kids didn't know how to play with the actual cards, so this is essential in showing how to actually play the game. The three decks are good examples of how to build a successful deck to give them an idea. If you or your kids don't know how to play, then this is a great one to pick up.

Bought this card game for my daughters (6 & 8 years) overall it was a much better value than buying the individual cards which I had done several times before. Since we only play a few hours a week its taking them some time to learn and master the game but I don't mind as I want an alternative to them being on their tablets all day. This makes them have to think instead of just consuming content.

Bought this Pokémon card set for a birthday gift, and wow was this a nice gift, smiles and many hours of fun playing, I would recommended this as a gift option and usually can find on sale and saving money which is a good thing. And with Black Friday getting closer be on the lookeout for this item.

The tutorial does a decent job of explaining the rules of rhe game and it’s nice they include a more advance deck when you get a handle of the game. Great quality cards and fun to play with others!
