I arrived at the Best Buy at 8:00am. The hidden behind a wall of clouds, cold and indifferent, much like the faces of the 23 men sitting in their folding chairs in front of the locked glass doors. We stood in a line that felt less like a queue for a hobby and more like a gathering of people waiting for a government-mandated ration of hope. One individual, wearing a cross-body bag and Crocs (WITH SOCKS) had seen better days, spent the duration of the two-hour wait explaining his "exit strategy" for his inventory of cardboard. I found myself staring at the texture of his neck, wondering if he realized he was merely a temporary host for assets that do not love him back. The Ascended Heroes collection itself is a masterclass in psychological tension. Upon opening the box, I was presented with the poster. It is double-sided. This is a profound design flaw, or perhaps a deliberate cruelty. To display one side is to actively suppress the other. Side A features Lucario, ready to engage in a physical confrontation that I am not emotionally prepared to witness before my second cup of coffee. It is a side that demands movement and conflict. Side B, however, is a collage: a dense, frantic grid of square and rectangular card art. Every inch of space is occupied by a different creature trapped in its own geometric cell, locked in an eternal, desperate struggle for visibility, much like the men in the parking lot. I spent forty minutes laying the paper flat on the kitchen island, weighing the merits of Lucario’s kinetic violence on Side A against the cold, clinical repetition of the card grid on Side B. My husband entered the kitchen and asked if I was planning on using the island for dinner preparations. I explained that I was currently navigating a crisis of permanence and that the chicken could wait. I held the poster up against the light to see if I could perceive both sides at once, but the paper stock is just thick enough to prevent such a compromise. You are forced to choose between the chaos of action and the chaos of the grid. He stared at his Blackstone grill through the window for a long time before suggesting we order pizza. I eventually taped Side B to the wall. I find the rigid rectangles of the collage keep me alert. Every time I walk past it, I see a new, tiny face staring back at me from its cardboard prison, reminding me of the two hours of my life I traded for this experience. It is a functional piece of decor, provided you don't mind the feeling of being watched by a hundred different eyes at once. I have placed Side A against the drywall, where Lucario’s aggression can be safely muffled by the insulation.

The Pokémon Ascended Heroes Poster Collection is a pretty fun box, especially if you like collecting promos and display pieces. You get 10 packs, a nice full-art promo (Lucario or Gardevoir), and the big poster is actually a cool bonus instead of just filler.

Great customer service despite wild lines! On Pokemon release day the only thing I can imagine worse than the lines is being an employee and Best Buy employees held it down! Was able to secure a mega poster set today with great rips!!

I really enjoyed this weeks Pokémon restock I just wish there was more for everyone in line as the amount the store gets seems to only be enough for 3 or 4 people even with the awesome limit policy bestbuy has

You have to camp for these things but it was really nice being able to get one for MSRP. I opened it and I got some decent stuff out of it nothing too crazy but a few full art / illustration rares. Ascended Heroes is such a good set I wish Pokemon company would print a little bit more or implement a waitlist and they will just print to demand.

Was SO excited to randomly score this set from Best Buy. The ONLY store that sells TCG at true MSRP. I guess that’s why they’re named Best Buy. If you’re into Pokémon for the nostalgia, artwork, or the excitement of opening packs, this set is worth checking out. Just be warned… one box usually turns into wanting another lol
