?Henryk Mikolaj Górecki (1933-2010) achieved an international success in the mid-1990s, with his Symphony No. 3, InchSymphony of Sorrowful SongsInch. Since then, Górecki's name has been associated almost exclusively with this piece. However, his music is much more than this one brilliant work. Górecki never looked at musical fashions, but consistently created his own sound universe. In the 1980s Górecki, feeling misunderstood, stepped back from the official concert life in Poland. He reached out to simple folk and church melodies, making their choral arrangements. He treated them with a great devotion and humility. In 1985, the composer drew on traditional church songs collected in the 19th-century Spiewnik koscielny (Church Songbook) by Jan Siedlecki. He first selected five songs from it, which made up the cycle of five Marian Songs, Op. 54, for mixed choir a cappella. A year later, Górecki decided to compile other church songs of various character and associated with different liturgical seasons. This led to a collection of twenty Church Songs for a cappella choir today known as his Op. 84. Apart from two, the songs were not published during composer's lifetime. This album by the Polish Chamber Choir led by Jan Lukaszewski offers this choral gem for the first time sang in Latin.

Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing in a Stoughton jacket. The sixth album Sonny Rollins recorded as the leader of his own band, Saxophone Colossus features Sonny on saxophone, Tommy Flanagan on piano, Doug Watkins on bass and Max Roach on drums. It was recorded in a single day, the tight knit of the musicians enabling them to record most of the songs in one take, then something of a rarity. Featured are Sonny's best known song 'St Thomas', two other original compositions and two covers, of which 'Moritat' (better known as 'Mack The Knife') is probably the best known. Overall the album is a jazz classic, consistently regarded as one of the best jazz albums released by not only Sonny but by his tag Prestige.

Zeidler is a classicist. Having formed his sound language in the early stages of this style, he became a creator of a music illuminated by the spring sun of classicism. More than thirty works of the artist have survived to our times. Although they represent only a fraction of his oeuvre, they still testify to the artist's astonishing craft. Sixteen of them have already been heard at the Gostyn festival. These were masses, litanies, Marian antiphons, songs and the requiem. The seventeenth piece in this series is Vespers for solo voices, choir and orchestra, whose musical notation has been preserved in the archives of the Gniezno Cathedral. They were performed on 5 October 2019 as the highlight of the festival programme; the recording was also made during that concert. The MUSICA SACROMONTANA Festival serves the continuation of the intentions of the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri, who wanted to evangelise through the broadly understood propagation of culture. It is thanks to their efforts that in the 17th century a great ensemble was created there, and the greatest composers, including Palestrina, came to Gostyn. Many of them wrote pieces on commission of the Congregation, whereas fathers filled the library with copies of works of the greatest masters.
