About this product
In Prism is the best Polvo record even before you get to the majestic InchA Link in the Chain,Inch serene and tempestuous like few other things you'll hear. The album was recorded with Brian Paulson, and Polvo has never sounded better. Polvo spent 1990-98 giving voice to a chorus of discrete rock & roll ideas that really hadn't been heard before. While there was nothing wrong before, it's now so much more right-perhaps because after ten years, after other bands and their tours and records and worries (if they had any), none of the peripheral stuff matters anymore. -Mike Wolf, NYC, June 2009 Album Tracks 1. Right the Relation 2. D.C. Trails 3. Beggar's Bowl 4. City Birds 5. Lucia 6. Dream Residue/Work 7. The Pedlar 8. A Link in the Chain

Originally released in April 1996, Exploded Drawing was generally received as Polvo's White Album, the moment when the band finally kicked off it's shoes, cracked the studio windows, and unleashed a long suite of songs showcasing the band's true range. This double LP gives it all up paranoid blues rants, Delhi-via-the-Ozarks hoedowns, spaghetti western lopers, carnivalesque boogie, a blazing, frustrated finale, and as always, that guitar sound. It's just a little off, twisted, tweaked, coming at us from some pangaeic realm we still haven't located so many years later, and probably never will. Album Tracks 1. Enemy Insects 2. The Fighting Kites 3. Rock Post Rock 4. The Golden Ladder 5. Downtown Dedication 6. Pulchritude 7. Twenty White Tents 8. Everything in Flames! 9. D.D. - S.R 10. El Rocío 11. Lantern

This compilation's nine tunes-the first seven from the Can I Ride double 7-inch EP (1990), the last two from the InchVibracobraInch b/w InchThe DrillInch 7-inch (1991)-are not quite the sound of a torch being passed, but they were a sign that Sonic Youth's weird tunings, the hardcore punk and proto-indie rock on SST Records, and R.E.M.'s hazy rock (three big influences on this era of Polvo) were changing lives. Even back then, the impossibly catchy roar from Merge's flagship act Superchunk was known to outsiders as the sound of Chapel Hill. But Polvo was something different from the same region. While the band never cottoned to the Inchmath rockInch tag (and it's hard to disagree with them), there is no question that there was a distinct Inchhow can we make guitar rock sound different from all the other guitar rockInch vibe going on in the mid-Atlantic, from Richmond to North Carolina over to Louisville and down almost to Atlanta. (If the Mastodon dudes aren't fans I'll eat your shoe.) Album Tracks 1. Can I Ride 2. Leaf 3. Lull 4. Totemic 5. Tread on Me 6. Teen Dream 7. Snake Fist Fighter 8. Vibracobra 9. The Drill
