Prince Fatty - Supersize - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Mr Bongo is extremely proud to the brand new, much-anticipated, second album from reggae legend Prince Fatty Renowned sound engineer and record producer Mike 'Prince Fatty' Pelanconi has been a prominent member of the reggae and dub scene in the UK since the mid 90s. Finding himself frustrated by the tempos and mixes of certain records he loved - typified by DJ'ing onetime after Don Letts who had already played half his selection - he set about recording his own versions with a supergroup of London's finest reggae musicians. 'I have worked with many of the UK-based reggae musicians at one point or another so I went about selecting the best possible musicians from my experiences with two criteria in mind - the best skills and the most vibe. At the same time my Dub Supervisor and Reggae Jedi aka Little Roy and I started to record tracks for his new album and I found myself recording reggae every day. The Pioneers were dropping by my studio, Alcapone was cutting specials and singers like Winston Francis were just hanging out.' As well as versions of favorite reggae and soul songs, two tracks stand out - Ol' Dirty Bastard's 'Shimmy Shimmy Ya' and 'Insane in the Membrane' by Cypress Hill. 'I was sad when Ol' Dirty passed away and for me the great hip hop era ended with him. I cut the version of 'Shimmy Shimmy Ya' soon after he died, as a tribute we often hold a minutes silence when me and Horseman do this live. We did 'Insane in the Brain' for fun as we had a show supporting Madness coming up. The nutty boys challenged US to a sound clash and they lost. Though we played a dirty hand, they were gracious in defeat.' the vocal line-up also include Slits singer/daughter of S*x Pistols drummer Paul Cook/new Mr Bongo signing Hollie Cook and features a dub of 'That Very Night' from her own album to be released in 2011. Prince Fatty's 2007 debut album 'Survival of the Fattest' a

Ash & Coal - Legacy - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2017 . Ash and Coal's album Legacy is a continuation of what was started with the 2013 EP Agnostica. A constant mix of the darker, heavier rock and metal genres. More focus has been placed on songwriting, vocals and arrangements this time. A pleasant mix of evocative, heavy, melancholic and a bit higher tempo. Always present sources of inspiration are Danzig, Thåström, Nick Cave, Fields of the Nephilim etc., and many bands of death, black, doom, thrash, punk, crust families. Legacy was recorded and produced by Tom van Heesch in Big Island Sound studios in Stockholm. The result is an enjoyable soundtrack to dark winter nights.

Peter Sheppard Sk rved - Thesaurus of Violinistic Fiendishness - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The composer Paul Pellay describes this immense and absorbing work as 'a compositional diary of the two years it took to write' and says that a number of his preoccupations became part of it's fabric - from autobiographical elements, to his interest in abstract constructions, to the art of Goya and the poetry of Ungaretti, political concerns and the odd 'nod' in the direction of other composers he admires. The 'fiendishness' of the title should not dissuade potential customers - it is far more approachable music than much other virtuoso solo violin music but fiendish certainly in it's virtuosity and concept.
