Below the Belt is a gritty and humorous drama about life on the road as a female professional wrestler, in the tradition of Rocky (1976) and Fat City (1972). Based on the memoir To Smithereens by Rosalyn Drexler (who wrestled as the Mexican Spitfire), it is a realistic and moving take on the highs and lows of life on the mat. Rosa Rubinsky (Regina Baff, Excape from Alcatraz) is a natural at fending off unwanted sexual advances while working at a sports arena concession stand. So when she's discovered by promoter Bobby Fox (John C. Becher, Gremlins) and trained by real-life legend Mildred Burke, Rosa soon finds herself competing in the turbulent world of pro wrestling.

On leave, Army bombardier Bill Seacroft (William Holden) showed up at the home of Ruth Wilkins (Joan Caulfield), explaining to her bewildered folks that their daughter was his pen pal, he was smitten, and he intended to propose. All well and good, except the letters had actually been written by Ruth's teen sister Miriam (Mona Freeman)-and Ruth just got engaged to another guy (Billy de Wolfe)! Long-requested romantic charmer co-stars Edward Arnold, Virginia Welles, Mary Philips, Kevin O'Morrison. 95 min. Standard; Soundtrack English; Subtitles English; audio commentary.

Travelling to antebellum Dixie to claim his family estate, hapless heir Willie McKay (Buster Keaton) learns he's also inherited a long-standing feud with the clan of his new girlfriend (Natalie Talmadge, Keaton's real-life wife). A daring rescue performed by Buster at a waterfall is just one of the amazing stunts in this energetic silent romp. With Joe Keaton, Joe Roberts.
