Profoto - 32.8' Extension Cable for ProHead

From 2023 onwards, Profoto has introduced an enhanced design for all ProHeads and ProHead extension cables, featuring new plugs and sockets. This upgrade is part of our commitment to product safety and compliance with the latest international safety standards. All ProHeads now come equipped with a new plug, also known as a male connector, on the lamp head cable. This design change was incorporated into our production line in 2022, and all ProHeads manufactured from 2023 onwards feature this new plug. It's important to note that despite this upgrade, the part numbers for ProHeads remain unchanged.In addition to the ProHeads, our ProHead extension cables have also been updated. These cables now include both the new plug (male connector) and a new socket (female connector). The new plug on the extension cables is identical to the one on the ProHeads, ensuring seamless compatibility.However, please be aware that older extension cables may not be compatible with the ProHeads using the new socket system. We recommend upgrading these through Profoto's service department to ensure full compatibility with our current and future products. We recognize that many customers may have older head extension cables, and we're offering a one-time upgrade path through our service department.The new socket (female connector) is fully compatible with both old and new plug versions, while the new plug (male connector) has limited mechanical compatibility with older socket versions. The new plug is fully compatible with sockets on Pro-8, Pro-10, and Pro-11 packs, as well as the new socket on new extension cables (P/N 333528 and 333529), and the new socket service part (P/N 482201). However, the new plug has a tight mechanical tolerance fit with older type sockets on Pro-5, Pro-6, and Pro-7 packs. This means that Profoto is now unable to supply new compatible extension cables and heads for these packs. The same applies to older type sockets on the expired extension cables (P/N 333518 and 333519). The old socket on these extension cables can be service replaced with the new female connector service part (482201).
