About this product
The last of Schumann's Symphonies to be composed, Symphony No. 3 'Rhenish' was most likely inspired by a cruise taken by the composer and his wife down the river Rhine. Alternating between austere splendour, great rhythmic suppleness and soaring lines, the work is an aural depiction of rural life by the river and the majestic cathedral in Cologne, and one that dares to reflect tensions between Classical form and Romantic innovation. So too does Symphony No. 4, cast in four seamless movements that show Schumann's masterly command of interrelated material and of symphonic unity.

R. Schumann - Symphonies 3 & 4 [COMPACT DISCS] date 09/23/1994

Slovenly's mother tongue recordings imprint is psyched beyond belief to present to the freaks and creeps of planet Earth, the 8th LP from Switzerland's THE MONSTERS 'Du Hesch Class Ig Bi Trasch' ('You're Class I'm Trash')! Scandinavian Bestial Death Metal? PUH-LEEZE. Japanese Harsh Noise? GIMME A FUCKIN BREAK! This is the true evil that rock'n'rollers do, and you'll be trembling in your creepers before your asses even get close to bumping to the radical raunch contained on this truly amazing long-player. Even long time rabid fans will be stunned by the sheer magnitude of nastiness and horror here, and if you're a newcomer, we wish you the best of luck! Yeah, that's a harpsichord and a choir on the intro. Oops, that's the outro. We listen to S**t backwards and you should too. But so fucking what? Religion rightly scares the piss out of us, and The Monsters make no bones about their just demands of servitude. But you know what the craziest part of this disaster is? It's not simply that it transcends any trite categories like 'GARAGE,' or 'PSYCHOBILLY,' or even just (JUST!) 'ROCK'n'ROLL,' it's your perception of maestro Beatman's tried and true and fried as F**k vocal throttle that's damaged even further by him singing in Swiss-German for the first time on any of his vast catalog o' cool, and it's for the entirety of this monster swingin' album! You want the English version? Well take your ass to his legendary Voodoo Rhythm tag (Records To Ruin Any Party!) and imbibe as you are won't to do, but we're gambling that this language, which has no formal written application, is going to screw your brains like his charmingly broken English has never done before. No offense, we love everything the Beatman touches, but this bold and genius move has got our lobes knocked up like a barefoot mormon sister-wife. Mondo Mongo, mofos! Familiar tracks from killer records past, like 'I'm

The final volume of Percy Grainger's complete music for wind band once again respects his precise instrumental demands in pieces that span the breadth of his career, from his first large work in the genre, 'The Lads of Wamphray March,' to 'The Power of Rome and the Christian Heart,' his largest such work and one of his last. Also to be heard are 'A Lincolnshire Posy,' one of the genre's most famous and beautiful works; 'The Immovable Do,' which contains Inchthe most long-held pedal note in all musicInch; and the revolutionary 'Hill-Song No. 1,' which Grainger considered the greatest of all his compositions. All of the scores in this series follow, to the letter, Grainger's specific instructions as to the instrumentation. The Royal Norwegian Navy Band have starred for Naxos before, not least on some Sousa albums. Bjarte Engeset has been music director of the Tromso Symphony Orchestra and The Norwegian Wind Ensemble, artistic director of Northern Norway's Northern Lights Festival and Opera Nord, as well as permanent guest conductor of the Flemish Radio orchestra. His discography includes more than 30 best-selling recordings, including an eight-album set of Grieg's complete orchestral works on Naxos.
