Vespers - a cycle of religious services celebrated by the followers of the Orthodox Church on the eve of all feasts and each Little Pascha - i.e. Sunday. Vechernya, povecherye and utrenya are celebrated from evening to dawn. Among numerous composers who have developed the text of Vespers, it is Sergey Rachmaninoff that stands out due to his mastery of form. Carefully selected sounds of discreetly modern harmony render the acoustics of an Eastern Orthodox temple. Changes of cast (from three to eleven voices) and polychorality depict a sui generis theatrical nature of Orthodox Church ceremonies whose action evolves on a few levels, in different space points of the temple. It is particularly the sonorous, crystalline registers of female voices that contrast and perfectly combine with the male voices, among which the basso profondo basses, rarely found in the Western culture, have a profound meaning. The Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic Choir, also due to their artistic levels, guarantee the highest performance level of this kind of music in Poland. Album Tracks 1. Come, Let Us Worship 2. Unlike Witold Lutoslawski's Folk Melodies for piano(1945), which instantly became extremely popular, his Christmas carols were performed relatively rarely, despite the fact that the collection was published as soon as 1947.It was only in April 1980 that tenor Piotr Kusiewicz, freshly out of music school in Gdansk, introduced the carols onto the musical circuit. Starting in 1981, Kusiewicz and pianist Waldemar Malicki subsequently performed the work several dozen times in musical centers across Poland. Karolína Janu completed her master's studies in the class of Prof. Jana Jonášová at the Faculty of Music and Dance of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. She continued her studies at the Academy of Classical Music of Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam under the direction of Professor Roberta Alexander. Her professional concert performances consist of Engagements with Orchestras like The Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra, The Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice, The West-Bohemian Symphony Orchestra and The Prague Chamber Orchestra. Karolina is a well-known interpreter of Old Music and cooperates with Ensembles Collegium 1704, Ensemble Inégal, Barocco Sempre Giovane and The Czech Ensemble Baroque.
