With over forty albums to their credit and a busy concert schedule stretching back more than thirty years, the British piano duo of Anthony Goldstone and Caroline Clemmow was firmly established as a leading force. Their recordings are not only brilliant performances but usually innovatively programmed, leading to rave reviews for every album. Sadly Goldstone died in January 2017 but their legacy lives on. This album was originally released in 2007 but withdrawn due to complex issues regarding one track. Now available again (without that track!) this is a superb rendition of music inspired by jazz and popular idioms, including the original piano duo versions (not transcriptions) of several of the pieces. The combination of these two great composers and one of the world's best-ever duos makes for a stunning recital album. Album Tracks 1. Rhapsody in Blue (Original Version for Two Pianos) 2. Ma Mère L'oye (Mother Goose), for Piano Duet 3. Cuban Overture (Original Version for Piano Duet) 4. Sites Auriculaires, for Two Pianos 5. 'I Got Rhythm' Variations (Original Version for Two Pianos) 6. Boléro (The Composer's Version for Piano Duet)

Prior to the age of mechanical reproduction, music lovers had two primary ays in which to enjoy music they could attend concerts, which was fraught with difficulties due to the dilapidated state of the road system and lack of transportation methods, or they could make music themselves, giving rise to the tradition of the house concert during the 19th and the first half of the 20th century. The increase in importance and popularity of Hausmusik was enabled by rapid technical advancements in the development of the piano. Composers and virtuosos created an ever-increasing number of transcriptions and arrangements for piano two or four hands with the intention of making them available to a wider audience. This recording presents a selection of arrangements of orchestral works for piano solo, arranged specifically for this purpose, by composers Bedrich Smetana, Igor Stravinsky, Sergei Prokofiev, Maurice Ravel, and Aram Khachaturian. New York-based French-Swiss pianist Francois-Xavier Poizat provides a wealth of tone colors while exploiting the virtuosic capabilities of the piano to it's limits.
