About this product
Digitally remastered and expanded edition of Raydio's self titled 1978 album including six bonus tracks. Although recorded in L.A., Raydio is full of Detroit musicians and has a very Detroit-minded sound. Raydio is essentially a funk/soul album, but with pop and rock elements—and Parker certainly brings a poppy outlook to “Jack and Jill,” the single that put Raydio on the map. A clever song that uses nursery rhyme imagery to describe a man who feels neglected in a relationship and has an affair, “Jack and Jill” climbed to #5 on Billboard’s R&B single chart in the United States and #8 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Jack and Jill” also fared well internationally, reaching #11 in the UK, #4 in Australia and New Zealand and #5 in Canada. Raydio, which made it to #8 on Billboard’s R&B albums chart, was certified gold in the U.S. by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales exceeding 500,000 copies.

Digitally remastered and expanded edition of Raydio's 1979 album including two bonus tracks. Raydio’s winning streak continued in 1979 with their second album, Rock On, and their major hit, “You Can’t Change That.” Rock On, like Raydio, was certified gold in the U.S. by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and a major factor in the album’s success was the single “You Can’t Change That.” A laid-back, mid-tempo soul-pop groove that found Parker and Raydio’s Arnell Carmichael sharing the lead vocals, “You Can’t Change That” climbed to #3 on Billboard’s R&B singles chart in the U.S. and #9 on the Billboard Hot 100. Another single, the moody “More Than One Way to Love a Woman,” peaked at #25 R&B in Billboard in the U.S.—where Rock On made it to #4 on Billboard’s R&B albums chart.

Ray's dance band was a top attraction in Vegas, where this glittering performance took place (at the Sahara Hotel in March 1960). You also get a whopping 16 bonus tracks from his EPs; his hit renditions of Pete Kelly's Blues, Peter Gunn and Walkin' to Mother's join his vivacious versions of Dragnet, Jailhouse Rock, The Girl Can't Help It, Mack the Knife, One O'Clock Jump and more!
