Rayven Justice - I Have a Dream - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2020 . One of the most popular Philadelphia soul groups of the 1970s, Blue Magic was originally formed in 1972 with original members Ted Mills, Vernon Sawyer, Wendell Sawyer, Keith Beaton, and Richard Pratt. The group quickly made it's mark as a vocal group with a heavy accent on smooth ballads which helped to define the essence of what became known as Philly Soul. Today, original members Wendell Sawyer (lead and baritone) and Keith Beaton (tenor) have added lead vocalist Ron Queen and vocalists Moe Kee and Robert InchBuddyInch Williams to form the strongest version of Blue Magic since the early 1980s. This version of the group pays tribute to the original sound of Blue Magic with the accent on old school ballads and smooth Philly Soul. They have gone back to the source together with legendary producer Butch Ingram to create the vibe of the original group but with new, possibly improved results. Backed by the Ingram Family band and the Society Hill Orchestra, with new material including tunes written by the Ingrams and Barbara Mason, plus a great new version of the Barbara Pennington classic InchOn A Crowded Street,Inch the sound of Blue Magic is not only back - this time it's here to stay.

The posthumously released DREAM OF A LIFETIME is a thoughtfully curated collection of originally unreleased material from an artist whose life was tragically cut short. The obscurities glimmer with possibility; the explicit yet humorous InchSanctified LadyInch is accompanied by a smirk that only the fearless could sport.

The debut long player from 22 year Kizzy Crawford has already a great deal and garnered gushing praise from all those who have discovered her truly unique music. TheWelsh/Bajan multi-instrumentalist, singer, actress and songwriter draws upon soul, folk, jazz, and pop and infuses her music with the best elements of all, the results set her apart from any of her contemporariesAlbum opener 'Dive' illustrates this adeptly, the slinky neo-soul groove is furnished with touches of retro synth, whilst beautifully crafted backing vocals provide a rich backdrop to her beautifully crafted melody line. Of the other 10 tracks that make up The Way I Dream, the stand out moments are many, including Golden Brown, the folky soul-jazz masterpiece which is an account of confronting, and dealing with prejudice; 'Golden Brown is my grown up self talking to that little girl who felt so confused and alone telling her to be proud of her differences; her brown skin, her big curly hair, her voice, her whole self and to not listen to the words of bullies and ignorant people'.
