This is my first Razer product and while there were other options out there, (that were similarly spec'd) this is the one that in my opinion looks the most professional. It's clean, it's simple and nothing is protruding - this is something I could take into the office and not worry was too bright, huge, etc.
Just to be clear this is my first personal upgrade in 12+ years so I was able to 1. Save up, and 2. Justify the cost.
While it's true I could have spent the same amount on a desktop and had both a desktop CPU/GPU version of this setup, my needs require to be mobile far more than being stationary. So...with that said...
This laptop is awesome! One of the first things I did was upgrade the OS to Windows 11 Pro. This allows me to make use of certain features that are only really found in the Pro version of the OS - bitlocker being one of them. The other upgrade I made was to put in a 2TB Samsung 980Pro SSD in the second slot. Highly recommend this!
It's loud when you are really making use of the GPU - especially if you have switched it to High Performance mode. You'll really want to have it on a stand or a laptop cooler combo because otherwise it gets hot fast. I've only had this for a couple weeks, but I've not noticed anything wrong - it feels solid! I love it.
The screen is beautiful - no question about it. It's not as bright as other panels, but you wouldn't notice unless you had another screen right next to it...so it's a moot point for me. I didn't go for a 360HZ screen either, as I needed 4k panel over 1080p. The rgb lights are not something I cared too much about, but I'll be honest, it's pretty amazing. You can customize individual keys, make a pattern, set it to music, customize for gameplay, create different profiles etc. It's completely new to me and I really like it. To be fair, you can turn it off also or set it to one color and call it good. Performance is amazing! The only thing I have to compare to it, is not really a comparison so I'll just say that previously, my now 12 year old personal workstation would take around 2.5min to process a 50MB RAW photo and with this set to high performance - the same photo now takes 6 seconds. Out of sheer curiosity I grabbed 790 RAW photos (using DxO Photolab 5.2) and mass exported to JPG at 100% quality in 37min! The reality is that I've never had this amount of work to do in one go, it's just awesome that pairing a 12th gen i9 with the rtx 3080ti has made such a huge difference in my workflow -even though it's not a desktop. I can actually shoot and edit and be done in a single night! Having this amount of computing/graphic power in a mobile setting has made a world of difference to me!
Gaming - the only gaming I have done so far is to download God of War for PC - I only play this on Ultra mode, 4k, 144HZ and it honestly looks so real, almost like you can touch it. Yes it's pricey - but, the reality is that I had the time and patience to save up for over a decade - I also had $1000 of BestBuy points, that made this purchase a bit easier. if I can make this laptop last half as long as my workstation I'd be over the moon! I'm saving all over again, for the next top of the line machine! Overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase!
