Razer - Seiren V2 X USB Condenser Microphone - Black

This has got to be one of the best mics out there! Out of the box my voice sounds amazing. The durability and quality of the mic is true to Razer and I have no complaints about it. Perfect!

This mic sounds great and I got it for a bargain. I would recommend this mic to anyone looking for a good upgrade or replacement.

Great mic at a great price. Found it on sale just after the holidays. Got it for playing on Minecraft on line with my daughter and her husband.

The Seiren V2 X has a premium feel and appearance. The mic has standard fittings, and I was able to screw it on to my boom arm easily with no adapter needed. The included USB cable is about 6’ long. The mic end is a standard USB-C connection, the other end is USB-A. The cable was just long enough to snake down along my boom with about 2’ left over, barely enough to reach my USB hub. If you need a longer cable or a USB-C at the PC end, longer cables and extensions are easily found. The microphone body is plastic, but you would not know that till you pick it up as it has a metal look. It looks good and seems at home on my boom. No worry if you have no boom though as a wide and stable mic stand comes in the box. The stand is hefty enough to not tip over if you bump it. The connection to the mic has a bit of a gimble that allows some tilting of the mic if you prefer. The Mic has a handy lighted mute button on front, green for on, red for mute There is also a gain control dial for quick changes on the fly to keep your voice from breaking up. There is no hard start and stop on the gain dial, it turns to infinity in each direction. Once you have your baseline set, you typically only need small adjustments if any to eliminate unwanted ambient noise. A headphone jack on the back is included so you can monitor your mic output with whatever other sound you mix in. The mic is on the short end. Which may help keep it low enough to avoid getting in the way of your monitor. If you have a cage/crown style Shock Mount, you may find the mic controls are blocked by the cage. There are flat shock mounts that work well for mics like these you can get if you need that level of isolation. The sound has a nice warm/rich sound but is clear without a preponderance of bass. The sound is very excellent, and that is what really counts. I did have some pops and an occasional slight whistle sound. My metal pop filter was enough for my last mic, but not enough with this mic to eliminate the pops. My metal pop filter may be the source of the whistle sounds. A foam filter was added and that seems to have resolved all the problems. But everyone is different, you may not need any pop filter at all. With the pops resolved, members of my Teams calls tell me it sounds as good or better than my last mic and my recordings sound good. Under the grill, the mic’s pickup pattern is heavily weighted to the front and top. This pickup pattern is perfect for a single user doing a podcast or video narration as it helps minimize any background noise to the side or back. But not so good for a group gathered around a conference table. Having the mic about 16-18” from my mouth worked best. when I first plugged in the mic, the Razer Synapse software started to install. The Razer software is well featured including a mixer with level controls, high pass filter, gain limiter, headphone volume, and sampling rate among other features. The mic also works well with other popular apps like Sounf Forge. If you are already familiar with another app like this, you can keep on using it if you prefer. A USB mic is less complicated and far less expensive than a mic than one that uses an XLR connection and interface with a PC. A USB mic is not only a great starting point, but light with simple connections make it ideal if you need to be mobile. The Razer Seiren V2 X has a solid feel, excellent build quality, features not found on high end mic’s, good software, and most importantly great sound. The best USB mic I have come across so far. I find this mic an excellent buy.
