I had a shoot to do for the Arkansas Summer Jam. And well ill start by saying for the price and size of it. And no batteries needed, all man , unbeatable. Sound was crispy clear, and actually beat my 130$ microphone. Good job rode!! 10/10

This little mic does a better job than I thought it would when it comes to picking up sound and recording voice. - Sound Quality - This part is good and for such a small device it does well and would be good to keep around if you have a small camera and want to use it to vlog or something like that. It picks up good quality sound I can use for sure. - Build Quality - Well I do like the size of it and I know its cheaper than some others but I don't like the plastic part that attaches it to the hot shoe mount on the camera. But I have been using it a lot and have yet to break it so maybe it will hold up pretty good and is just soft plastic to keep vibrations and extra noise down. Maybe its better build quality then it looks when you first open the package, and it also has a spot to screw in a tripod mound or other accessories to hold the mic! - Size and use - This was the reason I got this mic originally was the size and how easy it was to use and pack around because it doesn't require batteries like a lot of other camera accessories. So no need to worry about it not working because the batteries die or it not being turned on because if its plugged in it should be working. Then the portability on to of that easy access part, it fits in any bag and doesn't look just crazy keeping it on my Mirrorless Camera if thats what I'm using. So very quick and easy to use and set up no extras needed, comes will the wind breaker thing to keep noises down and just works. I think over all its a good device and the only thing I would like to see it have is 4 points attached to the cold shoe/hot shoe mount so it didn't move so much and worry me about messing it up. I would for sure buy again and think it is a really good addition to any camera bag and it works good along with being so quick and easy. That means that even if you have some other mic this one could end up being your quick go to for the ease and size!

After adding the RØDE - VIDEOMICRO Compact On-Camera Microphone to my filming arsenal, I've been eager to share my thoughts on its performance. Pros: Superb Sound Quality: This microphone truly shines when it comes to audio clarity. Voices come through naturally, and the reduction in ambient noise is noticeable, especially when compared to my camera's built-in microphone. Compact and Lightweight: Its name doesn't lie; the VIDEOMICRO is indeed compact. It doesn't add any significant weight to my setup, making it perfect for handheld vlogging or on-the-move shooting. Durable Build: The build quality is impressive. It feels sturdy, and I'm confident it can withstand the occasional bump or drop. Cons: Battery Life: While the microphone performs excellently, I did notice that the battery drains faster than I expected. For long shoots, carrying an extra set of batteries is a must. Windshield Limitations: While the included furry windshield is a nice touch and works well in light breezes, it struggles a bit in more windy conditions. An upgrade might be necessary for those frequently shooting outdoors. Overall Experience: The RØDE - VIDEOMICRO has been a game-changer for my video projects. The audio quality is a significant step up from my previous microphones in this price range. While there are minor areas for improvement, the pros far outweigh the cons. I'd recommend this microphone to any content creator, from budding YouTubers to seasoned videographers, looking for a reliable and high-quality audio solution without breaking the bank.

I bought this off recommendation from a friend. It’s so comparable to the bigger rode mic; it comes down personal preference. The audio is great and it’s simple & lightweight.

Very light weight and very good sound quality for its size.

If you need something to throw on and go this is your guy or gal. Whatever your particular application identifies as. The one takeaway is there is no back mic. Lastly the shock mount seems to work great but feels and looks real “meh”. All around good mic for the money. Id definitely at least keep one for emergencies.

Great sound quality for such a cheaply priced mic. Fits perfectly on top of my DSLR. It is design a little strange. But I think it’s because it’s to stop the mic from have feedback from moving the camera? Maybe I think. Not 100% sure tho. But works well. I did notice that it definitely is directional as in you sound better being in front of the camera. So while filming my children my voice sounds a tad bit far away. Most won’t be able to tell. But I can And it’s fine. Because this mic is way better than any built in mic. You can’t go wrong.

Got this mic for my sony A7riv. Excellent mic! Works great with no hoops to jump through. Great sound quality with minimal wind noise compared to other mics.

but since I can't give it 4.5, I'll give it a 5. I would write up a long review but I made a video instead. This microphone is suprisingly good for what it is. It's very simple, practical, and gives good audio in many situations. I thought about trying the audio on this microphone in different scenarios so I compiled clips of me using this microphone to give you guys a variety of situations where this microphone maybe used. It greatly improves audio at an unbelievable price! I use it for vlogging, youtube, and interviews. I currently use it with my a6300(SKU: 4944500) fitted with a 18-105mm power zoom lens (SKU: 7887254). I'll keep it on my camera for close shots. There are times I'll need to use a microphone tripod(SKU: 1535337) and extension cable(SKU: 1535319) and put it just out of frame.

I’ve been looking for a cheap mic that I’d be able to use for scratch audio and use a more expensive mice for the actual audio, this little guy gets the job done.

This is a great little mic and mount. I use it with both my DSLR as well as my Samsung Galaxy S20. My voice definitely sounds better and more natural with this external mic than with the smartphone in-built mic. Note: The cable that comes with the mic can be used directly with the 'mic in' port of the DSLR but for smart phone connectivity, you will need a RODE TRS to TRRS cable and an adapter (USB C OR Lightening to audio jack) to connect to your smartphone. I purchased all these accessories from BestBuy. I also created a video for this: https://youtu.be/WlY0eYx1NS8

works great on DSLR and also my Sony FDR-AX33 Camcorder. I also tried in on my iPhone but decided to leave it on my Camcorder. Had it for nearly 2 years now and not disappointed one bit.

After watching some reviews from late last year on the Osmo Action and Rode mini, I was skeptical about buying. Then found a new review from trusted youtuber "potato jet." He mentions that the Osmo had way better sound quality with the Rode after a firmware update. He was right!!! This sounds really good and I am extremely happy with this purchase. This mic does an excellent job blocking the wind noise. Looks really good on the Osmo Action as well. Enjoy!

This is one of the best smaller Mics you can buy.. I love it! I use this for outside use because it comes with the wind puff.. I do have the pro mic as well and you can honestly barely hear a difference between the 2.
