Reb Fountain - How Love Bends - VINYL LP

Celebrated singer-songwriter Reb Fountain's forthcoming self-titled album marks a new chapter in the kiwi artist's career and her first full-length on Flying Nun Records. Reb Fountain came together in the well-seasoned walls of Neil Finn's iconic Roundhead Studios in Auckland, New Zealand. This arrangement came about after Fountain performed, recorded and toured with Finn through his 'Out of Silence' album cycle, and it seemed only natural. Long-time studio collaborator and head engineer at Roundhead, Simon Gooding, manned the helm of Fountain's 3-week recording stint, alongside the legendary Dave Khan on producing duties and Chris Chetland (Kog Studios) who mastered the final result. The album features a range of musical cameos including Finn Andrews, Ben Woolley (The Yarra Benders), Elroy Finn and Logan Compain. The ten-track record features singles Faster, and her new single Samson which premiered worldwide on The FADER with a captivating video featuring kiwi drag-superstar Medulla Oblongata. Over the span of her illustrious career as an independent singer-songwriter, Fountain has become well-known for her earnest and honest approach to storytelling, garnering a close following of fans around the world and in her home, New Zealand. While spearheading a career of her own, Reb has recorded and performed with the likes of Neil Finn, Tami Neilson, The Eastern, Don McGlashan, Marlon Williams, Steve Abel, and more. Her 2017 EP Hopeful & Hopeless saw Fountain awarded Best Country Music Artist at the 2018 NZ Music Awards. The song of the same name won the 2018 APRA AMCOS NZ Best Country Song. Over the last year, Fountain has roamed Europe, the UK and US, performing with Finn Andrews as well as sharing her solo work with the world.

The perfect extension of her 2020 self-titled record, IRIS elevates Reb Fountain's music to new heights. Reb effortlessly combines pop elements with her trademark noir folk-punk sound; weaving authentic and anthemic tunes that create an instant and indelible impression. Written during lockdown in 202, Reb has said on the album InchWriting a song a day to keep myself grounded and productive during lockdown, IRIS provided me an opportunity to speak my unspoken, to reflect what I have seen and experienced from within and to bear witness.InchDiving into the deeper meaning of the album's namesake, Reb says InchIris is in many ways an unsung hero, known as the goddess of the rainbow, sea and sky, she acts as bridge between the gods to humanity with little of her own story known. So many stories go unheard, so many aspects of our humanity are unsung; visibility is a contested and inequitable space where what is essential and of beauty is often 'invisible'. I wanted and needed to give voice to this essential human spirit; to conjure and hold and commune with the very real, valid and invaluable voices within and around me.InchThe award-winning songwriter, Reb Fountain, is a consummate recording artist and performer; spell-bounding audiences with her music and artistry alike. Throughout 2020, Reb and her all-star band (Dave Khan, Karin Canzek and Earl Robertson) astounded audiences around the country on her sold out album tour.Reb was born in San Francisco and immigrated with her family from North America to Lyttelton - the quiet port town out of Christchurch that's been fundamental to New Zealand's alt-folk scene, raising artists like Marlon Williams, Aldous Harding, and Delaney Davidson.
