Includes complete chart, catalogue, recording session and musician information.

Manzanita Quintet - Osmosis - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

... Epstein is making some pretty amazing statements rooted in world music and the avant-garde, but stretching even those parameters to create a contemporary modern sound all his own. -All Music Guide. Individually, the members of the Manzanita Quintet have created astounding music in their associations with artists such as Kneebody, Dave Douglas, Ralph Alessi, Jerry Granelli, Art Lande, Beck, and so many more. These experiences inform their role as the inspired jazz faculty at the University of Nevada, Reno and in the music they create collectively. Along with Monk's InchBemshaInch and Charlie Haden's InchSilence,Inch trumpeter Josh Reed, saxophonist Peter Epstein, pianist Adam Benjamin, bassist Hans Halt and drummer Andrew Heglund have crafted a set of modern, original compositions that alternately stretch and groove, roar and whisper, revealing the inventive, creative vitality they've brought to this stretch of the Sierra foothills.

Various Artists - Greatest Country Hits Of 1959 / Various - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

This continues the series which we re-established last year with a 4-CD set of InchThe Greatest Country Hits of 1958Inch and which comprises selected annual collections of the biggest US country hits of each year. This great-value 116-track collection follows on from that 1958 anthology, and includes every record that appeared in the Top 20 of the Billboard country charts during 1959, excluding those records which had already made the Top 20 and which therefore appeared in the 1958 set (there was insufficient space to include them again in this collection). The country chart had been rationalised in October 1958 into a single InchHot C&W SidesInch Top 30 listing. With the new and research basis, there are fewer pop and rock 'n' roll records featured in the country charts this year, and it provides a for the top country artists of the day, as well as a number of more obscure tracks which have not been widely available on CD. With an in-depth 10-000+ word booklet with background notes on every record, it gives a solid overview of the most popular country music of the year.
