Q: Will this filter fit the Winix 5500-2 model? I have a black Winix 5500-2. I keep running across filters that only fit the 5500 model and not the 5500-2 model (the one that I have).

A: Lots of us have that question, and I don't have an answer. This is my reply to a Winix rep's comment on a review. I HOPE that BB or Winix will respond to their customers concerns: This is beyond ridiculous. We customers have been repeatedly asking the same questions and neither the retailer nor the manufacturer (both of which we have PAID) can be bothered to provide basic information. There's conflicting info on which filters are compatible with these two models in particular: the 5500 and the 5500-2. Best Buy describes this product as a Replacement Filter Set for several models, including the 5500. But the photos prove exactly what Nick said--- the manufacturer's box DOES NOT include the 5500 among its list of compatible models for these filters. Nick was obviously not mistaken in saying that this product is mislabeled. An error was made by either Best Buy or Winix--- but, again, neither has bothered to clearly and simply provide the clear and simple answer to what SHOULD BE a clear and simple question. You just tell Nick he's wrong and provide more conflicting information. We are the people who shelled out for a product. You are the people who profit and who, we assume, employ and pay people who are capable of at least rudimentary knowledge of your products and basic customer service. YOU say these fit the 5500 but DO NOT fit the 5500-2. However, in the questions section, another Winix rep says that either this product, Filter A (#115115) OR Filter H (#116130) will fit the 5500-2... :/ This is my assumption--- as a GUESS is the best this site has to offer--- I THINK that either will work in the 5500-2. I THINK the difference is that the Filter H platform has a washable carbon filter, while Filter A has disposable carbon filters. Is this correct? Who knows? No one here, apparently. Hopefully the manufacturer's website will be more helpful.

Q: HOW OFTEN DO THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED

A: Mary, we recommend changing the carbon filter sheets every 3 months and the true HEPA every 12 months. All Winix products have a "Check Filter Indicator" that will light up when it is time to change the true HEPA filter for your convenience!

Q: Do I need to change the filters if the change filter light is not on? I have not changed my filters for over a year because the change filter light was never on.

A: Hello, we recommend changing the carbon filters every 3 months and the true HEPA every 12 months. The "Change Filter" indicator is based on actual usage and the RPM of the motor. So if you have been using it in a very clean space, or low fan speed, the filter life will be a little longer!

Q: I see this filter will fit 5300 but what about 5300-2?

A: Hello Kitt, the Winix 115115 Replacement Filter A will also fit the 5300-2 air purifier perfectly!

Q: will winix A filter set fit a winix 5500-2

Q: The 5500-2 filter is out of stock. Will this work with the 5500-2? There's a bunch of mixed messages. Please answer.

A: Hello, yes the Winix replacement filter A will fit the 5500-2. You would use 1 true HEPA and 1 carbon filter, along side the pre-filter. You then should change the carbon filter every 3 months and the true HEPA approximately every 12 months or when the check filter indicator comes on.

Q: Will this replacement filter work with the Model 5500-2, Yes or No The info here is confusing for this filter and its model use. It doesn't list 5500-2. Conflicting answers, I'd like to please hear from Winix and/or someone who has tried it successfully.
