About This Item

Resident Evil 4 joins Leon S. Kennedy six years after his hellish experiences in the biological disaster of Raccoon City. His unmatched resolve caused him to be recruited as an agent reporting directly to the president of the United States. With the experience of multiple missions on his back, Leon is dispatched to rescue the president’s recently kidnapped daughter. Leon tracks her to a secluded European village, however after making first contact he discovers a fervor beyond reason grips the local populace. As a title that set the standard for the later Resident Evil franchise, the original Resident Evil 4 introduced the Third-Person-Camera to the long-running series, which has shipped over 127 million units worldwide since the first title debuted in 1996. Now, this reimagined tale of survival in the face of overwhelming terror returns to deliver a visually stunning modern gaming experience that is true to the promise of the original release. Many team members from the production of 2019’s top-selling and critically acclaimed Resident Evil 2 also make their return to delve deeper into the essence of Resident Evil 4. Fans and newcomers alike can revel in both the new and familiar, as RE Engine heightens the design and creative direction of the original game.

Fans and newcomers alike can revel in both the new and familiar, as RE Engine heightens the design and creative direction of the original game.

  • Reawaken a Classic: Resident Evil 4 preserves the essence of the original game, now reconstructed using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine to deliver realistic visuals and additional narrative depth to the iconic story that was not possible at the time of the original release.
  • Modernized Gameplay: The team from 2019’s Resident Evil 2 returns to build upon the series’ modern approach to survival horror. Engage in frenzied combat with the Ganados villagers, explore a European village gripped by madness, and solve puzzles to access new areas.
  • Overwhelming Hordes: Face hordes of rabid enemies that threaten to overwhelm Leon with even more diverse methods of attack than in the original release.
  • Reimagined Story: Resident Evil 4 dials up the original release’s key feelings of loneliness and the fear of enemies blinded by zealotry, while providing more nuanced depictions of the character motivations and relationships that defined the 2005 survival horror icon.
  • Sophisticated Visuals: Built on Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, Resident Evil 4 delivers breathtakingly photorealistic visuals in 4K, complete with stunning lighting and pooling shadows to create an up-close, intense atmosphere.
  • Attached at the Hip: The iconic attaché case returns, and now allows Leon to craft ammunition on top of item and resource management. It also has new customization options beyond expanded storage, including new colors and charms.

Q: Does this game have a multiplayer mode?

A: The provided product information doesn't mention anything about a multiplayer mode.

Q: What kind of enemies will I encounter in the game?

A: You will face hordes of rabid enemies, including the Ganados villagers, who have diverse methods of attack.

Q: How is the attaché case used in the game?

A: The attaché case allows for item and resource management, including ammunition crafting. It also features customization options like new colors and charms.

Q: What game engine is Resident Evil 4 built on?

A: Resident Evil 4 is built on Capcom's proprietary RE Engine.

Q: Is this game a remake or a completely new story?

A: Resident Evil 4 preserves the essence of the original game but is reconstructed using the RE Engine for enhanced visuals and narrative depth.

Q: I added the game to my cart, but didn't see the steel box get added. How do I get it added to my pre-order?

A: You don't. They changed the promotion with no announcement or explanation.

Q: I am told by several sources that there will be a physical release of the deluxe edition of RE 4 remake, so will we need to pre-order that in store? Or online? Or is that a digital only and my sources lied to me?

A: I believed that dexluxe edition is digitally only as announced during the Resident Evil Showcase on Oct.19th. The only 2 versions that are physical is the standard copy and the collector's edition. I have looked everywhere else on Target, Walmart, & Gamestop and there is no sale for the deluxe edition. To sum it in short, the deluxe edition is basically the standard physical copy of the game and an extra DLC slip for the costumes and extras. That's it. Nothing else. So you can just buy the physical game separate and go online in PS store on your PS5 and purchases that addition DLC codes for sale online. No need for the physical release of the deluxe edition. They are cutting back on resources.

TOP 3 Best of the Best in Resident Evil Series RE4

Back in 1996 when I had played the first Resident Evil game I was captivated because of the gripping horror dark atmosphere of the world which were incredible to me for that time of 30 years ago today. Now the remake of Resident Evil 4 comes along and just nails it with an incredible remake with our current gen of graphical performances in technology!! Boy what a ride!! It executes the resident evil name with honor by providing the gamer with an overall much better gaming adventure in every way compared to the first RE4 game. Without getting to deep about how amazing this remake truly is I will list some of the reasons why this video game is brilliant for me with a Pros & Cons list. Pros: - A Spooky World to roam around with haunting & beautiful atmospheres that will draw any gamer in who likes & loves this type of video game. You will explore and keep coming back for more!. - The Visuals in graphics are amazing and utilize the best of this generations technologies such as Ray Tracing & Path Tracing which provides photorealistic lighting & deep shadows. The World comes alive to the point sometimes you think you're playing an animated film and not a video game. - The Gameplay is far better then the original game in this new engine. You can tell right away plus feel it in every move and action you take. Some of the best resident evil gaming mechanics to date that feels super responsive and fun! - The Main Character Leon & the other characters are very well done and flushed out with distinct interesting personalities that unfold within the story is truly captivating & unforgettable. - The Music & Sound Effects are top notch!. if you are wearing headphones or have surround sound speakers it will keep you on your toes and freaked out. Between the whispering subtle noises, voices & chants to the vibrant dark groans from zombies & beasts alike those loud dropkicks in sound-effects will have you loving it & wanting more. Cons: I mean really there is none only that you might think to yourself... I want this game to be 100 hours longer. Cheers!!

Fantastic Remake - Felt more like RE

Resident Evil 4 for the PS5 Remake lived up to the hype I had for it, I was blown away by all of the story improvements done over the original with Ashley Graham and Luis Sera for instance. They had better character development than the original while having more compelling personalities. The RE Engine gameplay fit RE4 pretty well and expanded on the OG's gameplay amazingly by increasing the aggression of the enemies to match Leon's improved moves. Areas that were originally linear pathways were given a more explorable approach, feeling more akin to the gameplay of classic REs. The weapon selection was improved, and the Merchant now gave Leon more side tasks to do beyond the original 15 medallions mission in OG RE4. The first Krauser fight was reworked into a boss fight versus a QTE memory game. The main flaw of the game was Ada Wong's character direction in the Remake, the actress didn't seem to give it her all like with the other cast members. Either that or the director had odd ideas about Ada's portrayal. They cut a couple of areas in the game including a boss fight to save for later, which is annoying. Lastly, the bonus modes such as Mercenaries and Separate Ways weren't available at launch. While Separate Ways wasn't in the first launch of OG RE4 too, Mercenaries plus Assignment Ad, was, however. Mercs is in the game now via update, but it still doesn't have 2 characters that were in the original. There's also the fact Micro Transactions are included in the game, which hurts the score a bit. Overall, despite the flaws; it's still an excellent Remake that in my opinion matches the original in excellence. Just now it's more serious in many ways and overall has now an Action-Survival Horror vibe instead of being Action Horror. Fans of the silly action in the original RE4 will not like the more serious way, but the fans of RE being more horror-focus will more likely love this. I see it as a new, alternative way to play Resident Evil 4. and it perhaps will be my favorite way to play RE4 for years to come.

A great remake with a more dark tone

I’ve watched the resident evil series for a long time and seeing resident evil 4 for $20 was a steal and this remake was worth every penny. The graphics, frame rate and gameplay has been perfect. The more dark atmosphere enhances the game making it different from the original game. Some aspects of the original game were taken away, however I don’t mind as it gives a reason to go back to that game for its own features.

    Amazing Remake of RE4 ❤️

After playing the original so many times I have to say this has been like a new fresh experience with a ton of familiarities & call backs to the original game. It feels modernized and improved yet nostalgic. It’s a whole lot more difficult and different so I would advise most to play the standard difficulty when playing the remake for the first time! If you love the original but want a different experience with nostalgia then you will love this game! ❤️

Resident Evil 4 Is Back & Better Than Ever!

The first Resident Evil game I truly played is now remade for next generation consoles! Everything seems familiar, but there are differences. You can now move and shoot, the knife can be used for parrying attacks! The graphics are beautiful on 4K, and the eerie sound effects coming from the DualShock 5 mic keep me jumping. The main reason I got this was for the Steelbook, luckily I was able to pre-order and still get it! Unfortunately, I had to wait a week, it wasn’t available for pickup, only shipping, I had concerns last time I got a Steelbook shipped to me. Even curbside pickup was not available. I thought this would be similar to when I got Village. Steelbook arrived yesterday in good condition, thankfully! Currently on chapter 6-7, having lots of fun playing a classic game again! I highly recommend it for horror fans, RE fans, even people who like adventure games.
