This is dependent on a number of factors in your home environment, such as the weather and the number of activities captured. You only need one battery for your Spotlight Cam Plus to work properly. However, if you want extended battery life or don't want to experience any downtime charging the battery, a second battery is available for purchase. Each battery-operated camera comes with one battery and one mount. You download the Ring app on your phone and follow directions that comes with the camera, it's fairly simple. You name each camera according to their location, for example, Frontdoor, Driveway, Deck, etc... Your Ring app is your base station, you are able to retrieve all the information from the app, unless you have problems with your camera, which in turn you'll notify Ring. PS.
