About this product

Ritual Howls create a cinematic blend of twangy industrial-rock that could fuel a post-apocalyptic dancefloor. A collaboration between Paul Bancell (vocals, guitar), Chris Samuels (synth, samples, drum machine), and Ben Saginaw (bass), the Detroit trio's fourth full-length Rendered Armor follows the Their Body EP of 2018 with expansive arrangements sculpted with masterful production. Throughout Rendered Armor familiar influences reveal themselves, but the band doesn't rely on derivative imitation. Instead, Ritual Howls forge haunting atmospheres that are all their own, reaching into unexpected sonic domain. Each track unfolds with unnerving anticipation, as if sound tracking a chase scene in a surrealist western film. Bancell delivers his baritone above a jangling guitar like an incantation, evoking macabre, religious imagery laden with futuristic undertones. Propelled by Saginaw's often fuzzed-out bass and Samuels' dance club-friendly rhythms, it's no surprise that the band hails from the techno capital of the US. Opening the album with a gloomy country-tinged guitar hook, InchAlone TogetherInch sets an ominous tone as Bancell narrates a love story in a doomed world, colored by a glassy synth that sounds as if it were summoned from a horror movie. A sense of longing pervades InchThought TalkInch with it's subdued, hi-hat accented tempo, spacious bass line and reverb soaked guitars that ring out with melancholy. Ritual Howls' most mature offering to date, Rendered Armo' finds the band further carving out their own eclectic mix of organic instrumentation and pulsing electronics, distinguishing them as a unique force in the current landscape of underground music.

Ritual Howls - Virtue Falters - Aubergine - VINYL LP

The Detroit trio's fifth album is eight tracks of what we've come to expect from the always in form group - a cinematic blend of twangy industrial rock, metal, noise, baritone vocals, and macabre lyrics -but with an immediate urgency not yet seen from the band on past albums. It's their most focused album to date. a

Ritual Howls - Into The Water - Oxblood - VINYL LP

Ritual Howls are industrial rock meets cinematic country goth. Entering a vast nothingness of everything, exploring the unknown, baptizing, cleansing yourself, actually putting something or someone into water, like an act of murder, hiding something. InchLook into the water at your Francis Bacon face. Are your lies that easy to erase?Inch Welcome to the trio's third album, Into The Water. Detroit's Paul Bancell (vocals/guitars), Ben Saginaw (bass) and Chris Samuels (Synths, Samples, Drum Machines) are Ritual Howls. They collect samples of the physical world and feed them with guitar, vox, bass, synth and drum machines to create an aura of darkness over a pop sensibility. Paul Bancell provides lyrics that Poe or Lovecraft would approve of while Chris Samuels and Ben Saginaw provide sounds that bring his macabre tales lurching into the world of the living. Collaboratively, Ritual Howls create a surreal, introspective gloom that could fuel a disco in hell, a soundtrack to your favorite nightmares and most grisly fantasies.

Ritual Howls - Ruin -Green - VINYL LP

The dark spell of Ritual Howls' sixth album, Ruin, is cast in the first moments of lead single, InchFollow the SunInch, as the clarion call of Paul Bancell's reverberating guitar is anchored by the pulsing kick and flitter of Chris Samuels' drum programming and the snarl of Ben Saginaw's taut, fuzzed-out bass groove. More than a decade into their career, the trio continues to refine it's nuanced alloy of industrial, goth, and post-punk to a new level of all-consuming fullness, and more than ever, the results embody the contrasts they have become known for, at once hauntingly bleak but kinetically catchy, intimately raw but tantalizingly mysterious.Hailing from Detroit since their foundation, the band have always loosely incorporated elements of old school rave culture in their work, yielding a deeply physical experience from their heavy, brooding, melodic, and meticulous constructions. After their last outing (2023's Virtue Falters), Bancell relocated to Los Angeles, and much of Ruin came together over the wires, culminating in a series of intensive recording sessions with long-time sound engineer Adam Cox back in Michigan. InchIt started with Chris presenting musical ideas - beats, melodies, sounds, riffs - and a couple of complete tracks; he and Ben would get together and jam, and I contributed some guitars remotely,Inch he notes. Fundamentally unchanged by distance, Ritual Howls operate as a truly collaborative unit, and Ruin provides abundant, undeniable proof that they remain at the top of their game.
