Q: what's the depth of the mount when flush to the wall?
A: The back plate is about 2" from the wall plus the depth of the TV.
Q: how/where to place the cable box?? Do I need a shelf?
A: Donna I simply used the Velcro double sided tape suppled with the. Able box to mount it right on the back of the tv out of sight, no shelf, no unsightly cable box just a nice clean install where you only see the tv. Hope this helps.
A: I have left my 27" TV mounted during travel without any issues. The TV area for the mount is pretty sturdy, made of 5/8's inch plywood with a veneer. See the attached photo.
Q: Does this product have to be installed on a stud? Or can it be installed anywhere on the wall?
A: It can be installed without going into a stud but that is not a very good idea as, even though the TV isn't very heavy, it will come loose over time and wiggle the screws in the wall.
Q: will this mount work with 24" Vizio
A: This unit will be compatible with Vizio TVs between 13 and 24" that utilize a VESA standard mount pattern measuring 75 x 75, 100 x 100, or 200 x 100 mm.

Q: Wanting to mount a 32" tv that is very light, maybe 20 pounds. Would this mount work?
A: Yes it will
Q: How far apart are the screw holes? My TV has them at 4" at center of each hole to form a square.
A: I believe the mount has several options for all TV's. I believe there is a standard for TV manufacturers.
