Titus Andronicus - An Obelisk - VINYL LP

An Obelisk is the sixth album from Titus Andronicus, which finds the noted rock band under the stewardship of producer and legendary rocker Bob Mould (Hüsker Dü, Sugar, et al.). This trans-generational meeting of the minds has yielded the most immediate, intense, and unadorned Titus Andronicus record to date. Clocking in it a brisk 38 minutes and change, it is also the shortest. Recorded over six breathless days at Steve Albini's world-renowned Electrical Audio studio in Chicago, An Obelisk presents the sound of Titus Andronicus, rock band, at it's most irreducible, as monolithic as the album's titular monument.

Syko Friend - The Code - VINYL LP

Syko Friend's third LP, 'The Code,' wanders endless margins and endless centers, reveling in every sound, every feeling, every word. It balances the vastness of choice with the certainty of an individual path. This path belongs to Sophie Weil, the sole member of Syko Friend, who acknowledges this swing of extremes, this movement from the center to the edge InchI do want people to understand what's going on,Inch she affirms, Inchbut I know it's weird.InchWeil plays guitar like it's a faucet, the warm roundness of bathwater just a half-turn from a furious scalding, another full turn from the whole-body shiver of winter rain. Her foundation is a roaming kind of fingerpicking, the nimble, leave-only-footprints comfort of a regular hike. But Weil knows the switchbacks and undergrowth too, constricting the guitar into a staticky bludgeon, or clearing out all melody for the raw nerve glower of a single minor chord. It's an exemplary kind of American Primitive guitar work, the quiet revelation of intensely personal, timely expression found through century-old folk and blues forms. Weil's vocals-curious, fervent, dynamic and certain-fit perfectly with her playing. It's the voice of an observer, of a listener. Many lifetimes are woven through this singing, slight modulations and lung-full bursts of sound revealing half-conversations, slight revelations, world-obliterating moments of connection.

Dave Sadler - Fade to Blue - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Guitar driven...blues inspired...'Fade to Blue', a 16 track, full-length 2008 CD by Dave Sadler, is available on BluezArt Records. On 'Fade to Blue' you will find a variety of guitar driven, blues inspired tracks ranging from Chicago, Texas, and traditional Delta influenced tunes, to blues/rock/jazz fusion, and reggae numbers. Working with accomplished studio musicians from across the U.S. and the U.K., Dave Sadler has compiled a collection of music that draws from the blues/rock heritage of the nation's mid-section. From the farmland Delta of South Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana to the streets of Chicago and the plains of Texas, the early Blues greats paved the way for modern rock, and paid their dues. The music on Fade to Blue is intended to be an acknowledgment of their struggles and contributions, with a few messages for our times. Collaborating with Dave on several tracks for the Fade to Blue CD is Dan Cipriano, one of the busiest saxophone players in New York. Dan has performed, or recorded with Wilson Pickett, Bruce Springsteen, The Allman Brothers, Gary U.S. Bonds, Michael Bolton, Southside Johnny, George Thorogood, Paul Shaffer, and a host of others. You will love his contribution on Fade to Blue. In March 2008, Fade to Blue entered the Roots Music Report Blues Chart at No. 33. Tracks from Fade to Blue have been featured on Sounds of Blue with Bob Putignano, Mark Kerr's Blues Nation Show, and numerous other blues programs and broadcast outlets. Cuts from Fade to Blue have been named among the top songs for 2007 on Midnight Special Blues Radio, originating in Paris, France. Dave was recently named the 'Featured Guitarist of the Month' for February, 2009 on IndieGuitarist. Fade to Blue has been listed in iTunes Europe's Top 100 Albums List in the Blues category in 2008. The Top 100 List is based on sales and is compiled weekly. Fade to Blue is currently
