Michael Seregow - Crossroads - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

This is a wonderful new jazz album. Composer and guitarist Juan Calderón had this to say about the recording of the album I wanted to record in Bogota because of the cultural debt I owe the city for the period of wandering I spent in it before leaving Colombia. It was a short; yet deeply influential; time where I studied classical guitar; but mostly explored the city in all it's cultural facets. This recording serves as my window back in time to explore what could have been had I chosen to stay behind.

Royal Scottish National Orchestra - Orchestral - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

This album brings together music by two English composers who are also good friends -and both born in East Anglia Nicholas Barton in Norfolk in 1950 and Christopher Wright in Suffolk in 1954. Moreover, they share a similar musical language largely tonal, if loosely so, rhythmically alert, transparently but dramatically scored and with a natural feeling for symphonic argument and growth, and a powerful sense of scale. InchMark Forkgen and his versatile chamber choir Canticum are obviously fully committed to Wright's music and have done him proud.Inch (Choir and Organ)

Royal Conservatoire Of Scotland Voices Royal Scottish National Orchestra Tingaud - Chasseur Maudit - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

César Franck is perhaps best known for his organ works and late masterpieces such as the Violin Sonata. His Symphony in D minor has also been widely recorded and is often coupled with LeChasseur maudit, a work that ranks among his most popular and frequently performed orchestral works. Les Éolides and Psychéare more impressionistic in atmosphere, and much appreciated for their subtle orchestration and lyrical inventiveness. Jean-Luc Tingaud's recordings for Naxos have always done very well, with Poulenc's Les Biches (8. 573739) given a 10/10 score by ClassicsToday. Com, along with comments such as 'Tingaud's precise, clear-eyed direction is just what this music needs'. Vincent d'Indy's Second Symphony (8. 573522), also with the RSNO, was given a rave review by Fanfare 'This recording [by] Tingaud and his Scottish orchestra should absolutely fire up new interest in a composer who has been unjustly neglected. Very strongly, if not urgently, recommended. ' The Royal Scottish National Orchestra has a worldwide reputation for the quality of it's recordings, receiving two Diapason d'or de l'année awards for Symphonic Music and eight GRAMMY Award nominations over the last decade. The RSNO's numerous Naxos recordings include Roussel's Symphony No. 2(8. 570529) conducted by Stéphane Denève which gained the Gramophone 'Editor's Choice'.
