Pancho Vladigerov is considered by many to be the most influential composer that Bulgaria has yet produced, gaining fame between the World Wars and earning the admiration of Shostakovich. The three works recorded here are a testament to Vladigerov's mission to bring Bulgarian music to international attention, successfully combining elements of folk music with European classical tradition. The Vardar Rhapsody has been called 'the Bulgarian equivalent of Chopin's Polonaise in A,' and the lively and exotic Seven Symphonic Bulgarian Dances is among the most notable of a series of works that fuse joyous regional melodies with sophisticated Western orchestration.

For those who are new to an instrument, the first question is often where to start? The 'Best Loved' series offers an easy answer to that question and a perfect introduction to the wonderful, varied world of classical music. Spotlighting individual instruments in some of the best-loved pieces ever written, and with a mix of solo, chamber and orchestral works, the series provides a convenient introduction to classical music's infinite variety of instrumental sounds and styles. The focus in these releases is a light and relaxed approach, rather than academic and theoretical a joyful exploration and celebration of individual instrumental sounds. The present is a showcase of the horn. Album Tracks 1. Concertstück in F Major, Op. 86 Schumann, Robert - Classical Composer 2. 1. Concertstück in F Major, Op. 86 I. Lebhaft 0 3.
