Vinyl LP pressing. Rustin Man aka Paul Webb, formerly the bass player in Talk Talk, releases his new album Drift Code via Domino. Webb has released one record under the moniker Rustin Man so far, the superb Out Of Season in 2002 - a collaboration with Beth Gibbons of Portishead. He has been working on the follow-up ever since, recording it in his home, a converted barn, in an Essex field three miles from the nearest village, an extraordinary building as much Old Curiosity Shop as modern living space. Rustin Man aka Paul Webb will a new album - his second in two years - on March 20th. Having waited 17 years for Drift Code, some may be surprised at Clockdust's swift arrival, but the album's roots can be found in the same extended sessions. InchEarly on I realised I had two albums worth of material,Inch Webb explains. InchThe first tunes I wrote were electric guitar based, with long arrangements that built up in layers to something sonically quite dense. These became the bulk of Drift Code. As a reaction, I wrote a batch of songs that were tighter in their structure but had more feeling of space. Brixton-born artist, rapper and producer Gaika is due to his forthcoming album DRIFT - the most stylistically accurate representation of his personal tastes to date - on Big Dada on 8th September 2023. Available on 2LP red colour vinyl with artwork by Gaika himself. Drift is non-conforming and genre blending. Whilst hard to neatly fit in a box, the record feels like an avant garde blend of Electronic, Hip-Hop, Punk and Grunge music featuring soundscapes recorded from Gaika's travels abroad. Shapeshifting and cinematic in style, Gaika draws inspiration from musical greats; Prince, Wu Tang Clan, Massive Attack, and John Coltrane. With his approach akin to the Pink Siifus, A$AP Rockys, and Dean Blunts of this world. The campaign will kick off with lead single LADY featuring bbymutha on May 31st with an official music video (dir. Jade Jackman), plus 3 additional singles and respective music videos. Gaika's sound spans from grime, dancehall, R&B, electronic, and beyond, often weaving in political commentary through his lyricism. New album Drift is an ensemble record with Gaika as the central writer working with collaborators bbymutha, KIDÄ, Azekel, Charlie Stacey, Chamber 45, Brbko, The Narrator (Amber Joy), SAMANTHA, and more. Gaika is an active presence in the art scene. Previous projects and residencies have included Future Shock at 180 the Strand, Now Gallery, and the ICA, to name a few.
