Legendary guitarist John Ricci of Exciter returns with his new band, Powerrage. Alongside Ricci are bassist Todd Pilon (formerly of Witchkiller), drummer Lucas Dery, and singer Jacques Bélanger, who was featured on the three Exciter albums. Powerrage's music is difficult to describe, but in addition to ultra-heavy doom/death metal, there are also Exciter influences and parallels to early Mercyful Fate. The eight tracks on Beast were recorded with the help of John Ricci's longtime friend and producer Manfred Leidecker and mixed by Dan Swanö at Unisound Studio. When you listen to uncompromisingly hard tracks like InchDark Wings,Inch InchHaunted Hell,Inch or the almost punk-sounding (and somewhat reminiscent of the unique Amebix) InchI Torture I Kill,Inch it quickly becomes clear that Powerrage is indeed a new beginning.

'Burning in Celestial Poison' is not only a statement and lesson in audio-violence, it is a 44 minutes long manifest of radical DEATH Metal causing mental lacerations and chaos!A record supposed to shock, because of it's ecstatic ruthlessness and massive fanatical malevolence, hovering deep below the compositions. It opens the doors to a world that is so unbelievable vast, that you risk to lose yourself in it, it's depths defy exegesis.4 curses are woven into 4 hymns of utter death-magic, which will lead you into the black abyss of the grand divine. The album was again produced by master Arthur Rizk, who cuts through all expectations with extraordinarily dense and destructive fidelity and production. 'Burning in Celestial Poison' sounds like created with the magick, formulas, codes and keys of a world beyond. 1. Spleen Girt With Serpent 2. Trodden Flesh 3. Ruinous Paths... 4.... to Babylon 5. Flowers Of Gethsemane
