Q: Is this case compatible with a western digital 1 TB hard drive. My case broke and i need to replace to recover files.

A: That’s what I have in it. Works great

A: Comes with everything needed for it’s stated task

Q: Does it work for SSD or only for SATA hard drive?

A: While I have only used it for a 2023 model Samsung SATA SSD (500 GB), from my online research it should work for all SATA I, II, and III configurations. Which would include both HDD and SSD drives. And SATA I, II, and III configurations are backward compatible.

Q: My 3.5 HDD are encrypted with Windows BitLocker. Will this docking station work?

Q: I have an old PC that doesn't work anymore, maybe Windows 98. I want to take its hard drive and link it to my PC to see if I can find old family pictures. Is there a possibility that this would work like an external drive?

A: If it is the same size I would think it would work. I will be honest I don't consider myself a tech expert, but SATA drives haven't changed much in design far as I know. Best of luck to you!! Hope you find your photos!!

Q: What is the difference between SSD and HDD?

A: The SSD stands for Solid State Drive. Looks like a slice of RAM. Keep in mind that once the SSD is wiped by Windows--there is no going back, like there is w/a 'spinning drive' (i.e. HHD). SSDs are faster. They come in 500GB,1TB, 2 TB.

Q: What is the maximum capacity in TB that this unit supports?

A: I currently have a 12TB drive in here and it works great. I've seen people but up to 20TB drives in docking stations similar to this one as well.

Q: Does this support a standard USB C to USB C high speed cable? That is, does the USB C female on the device accept a standard USB C or only the enclosed adapter?

A: This does not support USB C. It uses "SuperSpeed" USB 3.0 Type B.
