In 1963, Sam Cooke, the true inventor and King of Soul, recorded the album Night Beat, which was bluesier and moodier than anything we had heard from Cooke before. However, thanks to his transcendent voice, listening to this album never makes us sad. Melancholy and nostalgia may come to mind, but Sam Cooke's music has an uplifting quality that has never been surpassed. Night Beat is an album that takes a slow approach to the music, but is never lazy. It is laid-back without losing it's keen sensibilities. His other musicians frame Sam Cooke delicately, barely needing any accompaniment on InchLost and Lookin'Inch and InchTrouble BluesInch, while adding some honest grittiness to InchLittle Red RoosterInch and InchI Lost EverythingInch. Limited vinyl LP repressing in gatefold jacket. Off the Wall is the fifth solo studio album by Michael Jackson. It was released on August 10, 1979, following Jackson's critically well-received film performance in The Wiz. While working on that project, Jackson and Quincy Jones had become friends, and Jones agreed to work with Jackson on his next studio album. Recording sessions took place between December 1978 and June 1979 at Allen Zentz Recording, Westlake Recording Studios, and Cherokee Studios in Los Angeles, California. Jackson collaborated with a number of other writers and performers such as Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and Rod Temperton. Five singles were released from the album.
