Q: When the ice maker is on is the light for the ice maker off lit up or not lit on the control panel
A: Good question because it works the opposite of what any reasonable person would think. When the picture/light is off the ice maker is on and vice versa.
A: We noticed those reviews, too. We have had our fridge now for 1-1/2 months and, while the noises are a little different than our other fridge, I would say it's actually quieter when it runs than our 12-year-old Whirlpool. The noises we notice: the ice dropping, a few "pops" here and there, a low whirring. All are now and then (when cooling or defrosting?) and none are a nuisance--mostly, it's perfectly quiet, no noise at all. The instructions are clear that once in place, the fridge must not rest on the front wheels but on the leveling legs which are turned down by hand. I understand that there would be a hum/vibration if this isn't done.
Q: What's the difference between RF260BEAESR and RF261BEAESR?
A: Thanks for your interest. You're correct that the RF260BEAESR and RF261BEAESR are very similar; both feature Samsung's signature Twin Cooling system, Cool Select Pantry drawer, new HE LED lighting, and an internal water filter providing filtered water to the automatic ice dispenser in the freezer. The difference between the two is the addition of an internal water dispenser in the latter RF261 model. - Ms. Samsung
A: That sounds like a power glitch. Try pressing and holding the power freeze and power cool buttons at the same time for about 8 to 13 seconds and see if it clears.
A: The reset button is beneath the icemaker and difficult to see. I used my cell and placed it on selfie mode to be able to locate the button and actually did reset it.
Q: No instructions about how to operate the ice maker, do's and don'ts!
A: Thanks for the question. The RF260BEAEWW is designed to produce about 3 lbs of ice per day. There are several factors that can affect the ability of the ice maker to produce ice, in particular the availability of water to fill the tray, and the temperature of the freezer once the tray is filled with water. First, make sure the Ice Off button on the control panel has not been pressed. Next, try pressing the Test button on the bottom of the ice maker, which should cause the tray to rotate then fill with water. It may be necessary to press this button more than once when the filter is first installed or replaced in order to bleed air from the lines. For the water to freeze, the freezer temperature should be set to -2°F or colder. You can also press the Power Freeze button on the control panel to help speed the freezing process. Once ice production starts, let the ice maker make ice for 1 to 2 days. Over that period of time, throw out the first 1 or 2 buckets of ice the freezer makes to ensure all impurities have been removed from the water line. Keep in mind, too, that water pressure of 20~125psi is required for the ice maker to function properly. If the tray did not fill with water, check the water supply valve to make sure it is on all the way, and make sure the line is not bent or kinked. Make sure the filter is installed correctly and locked in place. Samsung recommends setting the refrigerator temperature to 38°F; if set too cold the water line could freeze. I hope these tips help you get the most out of your ice maker! Ms. Samsung
Q: How much clearance/space must be left around this refrigerator (top, each side, and behind)?
A: Samsung recommends leaving at least 3/8" above the RF260BEAESR, as well as 1" behind it and 3/8" on each side to allow for ease of installation and air circulation. If either of the doors will open into a fixed wall, you should leave about 2" for hinge clearance and 3-3/4" for handle clearance, depending on the depth of the wall. Thank you for the question, Ms. Samsung
A: I had my fridge delivered yesterday and they took my house front door off. They also took off the fridge doors.
