    Don’t hesitated to buy

    Runs incredibly fast although it does run hot but you are paying for this I would think you have a motherboard in the hi end range like this m.2 right here and they have heat sinks with thermal pads already included so there should be no worry there to stop you from buying this product I chose a 4tb because I upgraded from two 2TB 990 pros wich already are lightning fast the 9100 pro is a gen 5 and does run faster and 1 slot reads faster as well

    Insane performance, but pricing is brutal

    Performance on this drive is absolutely insane. Sequential reads up to 14,800 MB/s and writes up to 13,400 MB/s on PCIe Gen 5, numbers that would have sounded made up a couple years ago. If you have a board that can actually take advantage of Gen 5 speeds, this thing flies. The price is the hard part to swallow. At over $1,300 for 4TB, it is a tough number to justify on paper. That said, this is not really Samsung’s fault specifically. NAND prices across the entire industry have spiked hard because AI data centers are eating up a massive share of the world’s memory and flash supply right now. Every manufacturer is dealing with the same squeeze. If you can catch this on sale, it is absolutely worth grabbing. Full price is rough, but the performance backs it up.

    ChrisH: Yes, the issues with the Samsung 9100 Pro Gen 5 SSD in the M.2 slot near the CPU on the ASUS ROG Maximus Z890 Hero are known, but they are not caused by lane-sharing with the GPU. The GPU still runs at PCIe 5.0 x16, and the SSD at PCIe 5.0 x4. The problems (stuttering, lag, or reduced benchmark scores) appear to be firmware/BIOS-related. For now, the best fix is to update your motherboard BIOS and SSD firmware. To check for latest firmware update: Run the Magician software and choose “Firmware Update” under the navigation menu.
